Game of Thrones final season [spoilers]

She doesn't have her own volition and responsibility - she's a fictional character. That's my hot take. Tongue And my narrative is that her turn to evil was written poorly. I'm guessing - mainly, because the writers wanted it to be somewhat surprising and shocking - at least to some viewers - despite having clumsily and vaguely telegraphed it in the previous episode. And because they're trying to cram too much story developments into the last few episodes.

The problem is - Daenerys doesn't come across as psychotic. Narcissistic? Sure. Dumb/naive? Why not. Paranoid? Yes. Cruel, sadistic and a bit psychopathic? By our modern standards - yes, but so do most characters in GOT, who seem quite desensitized to suffering. The "Mad Queen" theory has been around for years and there's enough set-up in the show to build on, but this raving lunatic burning civilians for no good reason came out of the left field. Daenerys had every right to be p*ssed off and vengeful, as well as afraid of being betrayed and rejected. She had reasons to want to inspire fear in people of Westeros. But we didn't get a good reason, why she would seemingly lose her sh*t and do what she did - except for "Targaryens are crazy". Maybe they'll explain, or justify her recent actions in the finale, next week, but I'm not holding my breath, that it's going to be a very good explanation.

If she accepted Cersei's surrender and then took her revenge on Lannisters, in cold blood - even destroyed the Red Keep - and started acting like an unhinged tyrant, that would have been a better fit for her character, in my opinion and could have accomplished the same, in terms of making her the antagonist, the "Mad Queen". Or - if King's Landing absolutely needed to burn - she could have been acting irrationally at least since the beginning of the season. Her father, the Mad King didn't become mad on the day he was killed by Jamie. But that would require more plot development, than just showing her with bags under her eyes a few times and then going into a murderous rage, because her handmaid died and her nephew/boyfriend won't f*ck her anymore...

I watched a tiny bit of Game of thrones and it did not pique my interest at all. I have absolutely zero interest in dragons and knights and wizards - just not into it. Guess I'm not nerdy enough in that way. Though I'm certainly nerdy in other ways.

The dragons don't even make an appearance until the final episode of the first season, and even after that they rarely make an appearance in the show.

There are no wizards.

The show and books aren't stereotypical high fantasy.

It's actually more like a Feudal soap opera.

GOT isn't high fantasy it's gridy full of Political intrigue  Human drama , any really supernatural stuff is sparse and more toward the end

Technically the Warlocks of Qarth are wizards but weather their tricks are actual magic is open for debate And one could argue the Three Eyed Ravens a wizard because it's powers are not natural as could the Red Priests or the Wargs. But even if we counted all of them the influence of magic is minor and sparse compared to the grounded elements .

They could have spent THE LAST 5 EPISODES addressing this stuff.  Not an excuse.

I think we have a GoT superfan/apologist here.

It's a great show. That doesn't mean they do everything right. Some of this stuff has been blatantly absurd.

Hey, remember that menacing metaphor for climate change, ignored by short-sighted elites, bickering over power and money? Yeah, Arya stabbed it in the bollocks and it's all sorted. Let's get back to the squabbles over who gets to sit on a chair... Tongue

Written in the style of season eight of Game of Thrones.

Gandalf: Frodo you must take the ring and plunge it into the fire of Mount Doom.

Next Scene.

Frodo is at Mount Doom.

1. Yes it is my opinion just as your comment was yours that's why I addressed I as such

2. Or they could address this stuff in the last episode so they don't need an excuse

No I just think most of the stuff people complain are either minor or ridiculous . I'm not saying the show flawless for instance Dorn was awful .

Do't you wish actual climate change could be fixed that way , And she stabbed him  with the right weapon so .....

Quote:burning civilians for no good reason came out of the left field.
Not really she said she was going to do that near the beginning

"we will take back what was stolen from me and destroy those who have wronged me. We will lay waste to armies and burn cities to the ground."

"I will set their fleets afire. I will kill every last one of their soldiers and return their cities to the dirt. That’s my plan."

"I am Daenerys Stormborn of the blood of old Valyria and I will take what is mine, with fire and blood I will take it."

Hell the only reason she didn't do it earlier is everyone kept telling her not to and make no mistake those "cities " described have civilians in them .

Interesting. That's probably why I'm not interested in it; it's just a mass appeal show that's essentially a soap opera.
