He was Zed in Pulp Fiction, and he’s now officially dead.

And, somehow, it turns out he died after getting shot… in the armpit. Frankly, of all the places for a killshot, I did not expect the armpit to be one of them.

The blood flow through an armpit is surprisingly large.

And considering all the vital bits near the armpit, a fatal gunshot wound in that region is probably more common than not.

Not to mention that arterial bleeding from a wound in that area is difficult to stop.

At least it's not Zed from the Police Academy.
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

Two months ago. And the bullet severed an artery.

And I only just got the news now.

Yeah, I imagine it’s a bit dodgy to apply a tourniquet.

Mazactly for both posts. The brachial arteries trunk through the armpits and none of the standard stanching processes (direct pressure, elevation, arterial pressure, or tourniquet) are useful. Stuffing with absorbent cloth and lashing the arm tight to the torso might work, but you really only have a minute or two to make it happen and even then your odds are poor. It's almost as bad as a femoral-artery wound, because the blood supply to the hands is voluminous.
