If it didn't bother him why make a very horrible joke to downplay his significance?
No, what a rational person would say is, "Good for him". That is not what he did, which says to me he IS uncomfortable with Obama having a monument to him.
Obama is not a cheap novelty like a "Chia Pet", that would be Trump, not Obama.

Sorry, but considering the climate right now, I didn't find your joke funny.
We have an orange asshole right now kissing up to dictators and vilifying our allies at the same time. An asshole who panders to the very people who'd think your "joke" was a lagit criticism and not merely a joke. An asshole who has supporters who hate Obama for no good reason.
Next time you attempt humor like that don't simply leave it at text. That was a piss poor attempt at South Park Humor.
Make it more clear, work on your delivery.

Nope sorry, that was simply poor taste. And you are talking to a Dave Shappelle and South Park, Simpsons and Family Guy fan.
A better line might have been, "What do you mean we cant have statues of Hitler?" And follow it up with an emoji indicating your sarcasm.

Does a President maintain any rights over his personal image?
Shouldn't the ChiaPet people owe President Obama a buck or two for use of that image?
Where in law is it codified that a public figure waives his/ her right to that image?
I say the ChiaPet pricks owe the man a paycheck....
