Now, if you’re interested in discussing the actual science, that would be a conversation worth having.

“Transgendered people are choosing what gender they want to be” = scientifically incorrect.

You. Are. Demonstrably. Wrong.

Suck it up, buttercup. 😏

You are not paying attention.

they choose how they are to be identified.

Not - they choose what they ARE.

I mean, we're five pages in, so someone has probably mentioned this, but I can't be bothered to go over it again. I think you're confusing gender with sex.

Oh look. Yet another thread started by an American demanding that one of the most marginalised minorities justify their existence.

And no matter how many times this topic gets raised and questions answered, the same demands keep getting made.

Americans aren't monopolizing bigotry. Are you English? You guys are pretty good at being bigots too, dude.

Let's not try to avoid bigotry and nose dive straight into nationalism.

I can pretty much list who is going to jump on the 'argue with OLB bandwagon'.  It's so predictable and trollish.

He isn't responding to actual arguments with an argument of his own. I also don't think he's a troll. I think he's mildly flaming. You don't have to be part of a tight little group to know that he has a habit of starting threads he knows are controversial and only responding with overly pithy answers. If he responded with any kind of sincerity to the number of posts here that are legitimately debating his point, I would agree with you to some extent. However, he hasn't, and he has a history of that. That's all well and good, but it's not defensible. It's just getting bored and stirring the pot.

Well that helps open the door for the stalker that follows OLB around to start crap no matter what he posts.  I guess that's acceptable.

More and more people these days think so.

Some people think that the surgery isn' t even necessary - but simply living as a woman makes a person female - despite having male genitalia.

....

IF something as quantifiable as genitalia isn't an indication of the identification of sex - how can something as ambiguous as skin coloration be an identifier of race?

Shouldn't a person have the right to self identify what race they belong to?

And those of you - who this question angers (there will be several) - explain rationally why there is a difference.

You're confused though.
Trans people don't just wake up day and decide to choose a new gender.

What they choose is whether or not to have the CORRECTIVE surgery and/or hormonal therapy required for the body to appropriately correspond with the gender that they already are and always have been.

I’m not going to answer any of your questions, nor will I present any scientific facts that disprove your silly argument. I just wanted to say that what annoys me is not your fiction-based opinion, it’s that you only posted this thread to rile people up. You have no interest in actually learning anything or having a real discussion. You will continue to assert your demonstrably incorrect opinion and disregard any and all evidence. It has never upset or angered me that people want to ask questions and try to understand something that they have no experience with, even if at face value their questions may seem offensive. When no offense is truly meant and someone genuinely just doesn’t know and is wanting to gain a better understanding, no matter how offensive their questions may seem, I am glad to see them ask. I am glad to see the discussion had and the information exchanged. It doesn’t make me angry it makes me happy. When your only intention with such questions is to upset people, yea that shit is annoying. Grow up.

Why would anyone choose to be identified as someone whom they aren’t? That’s the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard. Are you going to choose to be identified as a gay man starting tomorrow? Just for fun? Even if your straight?

You lost. Your argument is dead in the water. It was a non-starter. Take your ball and go home.

Who said anything about choosing to be identified as something you aren't?

If I say I am gay - who are you to say otherwise?

I gotta bring PROOF?

Since when?

Nope. When someone claims to be something - gay, straight, white, black - or Native America-- you don't get to question that- right?

What does that have to do with transgendered folks identifying as the gender their brains match, as evidenced by scientific research? Lol, go ahead; make your dumb, falsifiable argument again. You’re making yourself look like a fool.
