Why Creationists don't realize the biblical Creation is just jewish mythology?

RE: Why Creationists don't realize the biblical Creation is just jewish mythology?
Fundies ( in this sense divorced from Fundy Catholicism, ofc) build mega churches that make cathedrals look like polebarns, ultimately, though, both buildings are constructed for the same purpose, and “glorifying god” is just the ad copy.

I prefer the pole barns, myself. Wink
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I don't think the big megachurches are in remotely the same class as, say, Notre Dame or Westminster Abbey. Nor does a modern construct like that represent the same level of multigenerational effort. Anyone with a few million bucks can build a big auditorium and parking lot in a few months these days.

However I agree that the motivation in both cases is to cement hegemony over the sheeple. And to coerce those outside the fold into it. And I agree, the pole barns are a lot less wasted resources.

The difference between Notre Dame and the megachurch lies in the fact that in the era of the Notre Dame, Christianity tended to reserve a larger share of its loot for public display and allowed less of it to directly line the pockets of churchmen.

The reason for the difference could, however, be as simple as the first, much less the second or third, private jet hasn't been invented yet.

Reason for megachurches is that religion is exempt from taxes so it is very easy for employees to steal money from it, so owner must oversee the business going on, they have to be present themselves and therefore can have only one church so the bigger the church the bigger the income.

While some other denominations, like Catholicism can have many churches because it's employees are bred from childhood not to mess around with the profits, and also because main profit for catholic church bosses (Vatican) doesn't come from donations in church but from taxes, also known as tithes, and other sources like when the Pope goes to visit some country he gets like 2 million dollars from that country.
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

A few million bucks is just another way to say x hours of human labor ( at current productivity).

When a less productive hour of labor is employed, you might find that a megachurch is every bit the effort of a cathedral.

Even at current productivity there are mega churches that have bee in construction for the adult life of their parishioners.

We see cathedrals differently on account of the time they were built, forgetting both the similarities and differences between now and then

..,,,,.and still we haven’t heard any credible explanation as to why we should see either structure as value creation driven by fundamentalism. The underlying assertion remains “but pretty buildings!”.

The difference is in their eschatology. Evangelicals believe Jesus is returning Any Day Now, so why would they undertake mutigenerational projects like a giant cathedral? Relatively speaking, most mainline denominations believe they are supposed to build god's kingdom on earth, stone by stone, generation by generation, until the literal kingdom of god is ushered in due to the earth being sufficiently prepared to receive it.

This is why I wanted to determine exactly what he meant by "fundamentalism." What kind of Christian is he referring to?

If he means only modern Evangelicals he has a better point. If he's talking about some unspecified wide swath of Christians in history, his assertions probably require some refinement. This would require NOT condemning all religious people, but acknowledging the contributions of some.

Absent street lamps and pollution exclusive to modern life living and absent a full moon, how many stars in the night sky do you think they would've seen, GC? Just an estimate.

If you want to be conservative and say just a few hundreds, that's already a large enough number. And if you say 6000, then that's an even larger number. In both cases, large enough for the ancient people to have perceived the stars as innumerable.

Lazy, lazy, lazy couldn't you look that up. The answer is around 6000, go learn something and then come back to the argument. You must be loonier than a goony bird. You think people couldn't count back then, they studied the night sky and knew more about it than most people today. In Israel the summer months were so hot even at night people slept on their roofs with the heavens as a ceiling. They could see very well the amount of stars in the sky because they were looking at them for months at a time. The idiot is not the people of old it's the one who believe them to be idiots.

God loves those who believe and those who do not and the same goes for me, you have no choice in this matter. That puts the matter of total free will to rest.

Really GC, you look at the Milky Way at night and conclude there are only 6k stars there?

Or Omega Centauri globular star cluster - which was described in the ancient times - has 10 million stars.

Then again even if some scientists in ancient times believed there are 6k stars Bible was not written as something in line with science. Like a lot of people back then knew that Earth was a sphere and yet writers of the Bible thought it was flat. Or some ancient scientists started concluding that there are natural causes behind human diseases but not the writers of the Bible who still claimed human diseases were caused by demons and that praying and exorcism can heal people.
Also it is clear that writers of the Bible could not count the stars, like Jeremiah couldn't and he wrote in Jeremiah 33:22  "As the host of heaven cannot be numbered, neither the sand of the sea measured"

Well yeah, they saw a lot of stars, more than what most people in today's Western world see at night. So what exactly is remarkable about what you said earlier?

Is 6000 not a large number? If I see 100 ants on the ground, I'm going to think that's a lot of ants. What then if I saw 6000 of them?

because to you God is dead, however to the majority of Christian God is active and has made himself known in some way special to the person that believes. Because God is as real as you are to them, what or how they found God EG the bible is also accurate, and when Jesus quotes the creation story and references adam and eve and their sin it too must become real to the believer.. how real will greatly depend on their ability and capacity which unique from person to person.
