Would it matter if I used a whackload of Nair first?

Or would that cost me reputation points?

Asking for a friend.

Put that mankini in hide tags, I'm not interested. Like I said when I repped you almost a year ago, post more. 157 posts in 8 years makes it tough for people to judge your inputs.

Whaaat? That's like nearly 2 posts per month. It's my personal best when it comes to online forums Wink

Thanks for the tip.  Smile

Next question.... what makes rep points valuable?

And how much would it cost to fill up a bathtub with Nair?

Nothing, kudos are better
Maybe about $7000

Sure, that's a possibility, I suppose. Even with that in consideration, it seems to be more of a popularity contest; people who toe the political line, partake in the corny internet "humor" and generally kiss the asses of the perceived "powers that be" tend to get flooded with rep points.

It is, however, a generally meaningless system. If we can't even answer what the function of having a reputation score is, we won't care about what each reputation score "means."

Shit, I repped Psychoslice ffs. He was insane, his views were insane, pretty sure the staff at the time couldn’t stand him. He made me laugh, that was good enough for me.

Legit reasons to rep someone:
•You’ve taken time to get to know them personally and/or intellectually, have read and considered at least 80% of their posts and you’ve come to the conclusion that they are a valuable asset to the forum overall
•They make a post that you particularly enjoy or agree with or it’s just a really good point well made
•They are new and you want to make them feel welcome
•Corn on the cob
•In hopes that they’ll rep you back (especially valid during a rep race and/or rep war)
•You’ve offered a rep in exchange for a personal favor or nudes and you’re making good on your end of the deal
•You think they’re awful/stupid but in a funny or enjoyable way
•Literally just because they made a post wishing for more reps
•You’re testing out to see how long it would take to rep every single member
•They sent you money via Facebook Pay, cash app, or PayPal in exchange for a rep

Reps can be fun in a variety of ways, everyone treats them differently and experiences them differently. Who cares? They’re just a number on the internet. Enjoy them or don’t. I can’t help but roll my eyes at people that complain that reps are given to people who kiss the right people’s ass (lmao), well it is true that if you suck up to Tibbers’ wife literally everyone will rep you. No seriously, it’s true.

Or....you can give someone a rep in fun referencing their opinion that rep points are worthless and have them PM you and say really shitty things to you.

It's good to find out who takes themselves way too seriously.

Okay, you can have your opinion and I can have mine. It's an arbitrary number and without any agreement across the entire community about what the number means... it's, well, meaningless.

I don't know.

I mean I'm a Muslim in an atheist forum, an Arab in the middle of a non-Arab place, probably an anti-social person too; the odds which are against me are too many. Yes and I have problem understanding the true meanings of things said because I overthink..But about reps; IDK, but I really thank everybody whoever thought about me.
