RE: Husband Deconverted!!
Hmmm, christians will say that it was a heathen wife that put him out of the right path™. I have done the same with my wife. Or she has done something for me. Godly.

My husband admitted that he denounced Catholicism and Christianity! I've been slowly pushing him to this for years. Just asking him logical questions and being civil but pointing out contradictions. This is an exciting day.

Love the story and happy for you and your husband, but nobody "converts" or "deconverts", we simply change our position.

Just like a light switch can only go from off to on, or on to off, but does not convert pr deconvert  to a toaster or or chainsaw, it is still a light switch.

I look at all religions and god claims like a restaurant you eat at. You are not the building itself, it is just a place you frequent and are capable of leaving.

I left my position, but I was never the position itself, it was merely a position I held. Just like cloths. You can wear cloths, and change them, but your body itself isn't the clothing.

Call it pedantic on my part. I am really happy for both of you though.
Do you run around and let the air out of the balloons at kids' birthday parties?

Congrats on a wonderful outcome!

Nice of you to equate adults to kids. When was I talking to kids? You must have missed the part of the post where I said I was happy for them. Sorry my clarification bothers you, but I was not talking to you.

Missed the point...what a shock.

I didn't miss your point. You were childishly saying I was "spoiling their fun".

When you come to the conclusion that a god and religion are not needed, you don't always have the same knowledge as say Dawkings or Hawkins. If you go back and read the original OP she was chipping away at his "fun". So by your logic she shouldn't have questioned him because he had was having fun until she questioned him.

I wasn't spoiling their fun, just giving them something to think about.

So no, I don't pop balloons at kids parties. Offering an ADULT a telescope isn't the same as offering a kid a kaleidoscope. The entire reason she questioned him was so he would get to the point where he wouldn't mentally rely on a kaleidoscope.

One doesn't 'pop' balloons.  One merely CONVERTS them to a non-inflated condition.

I appreciate the comment and I understand where you are coming from but I didn't say anything about converting. I said denounce and I said it intentionally. Smile

Oh yeah I made the post on Facebook and like I thought only people from here and one or two others even acknowledged it because everyone else (including his parents) were thinking how I just sent him down the wrong path lol

The best part of the Facebook post is THE NEXT DAY I posted about our struggles with my daughter's health and more than one person said they were praying for us and it was "God's plan". Even one of my best friends that knows my thoughts on prayer told me privately that we would be in her prayers. Seriously? You want me to thank you for that? Pffft NOPE I ignored that comment and picked up another thread of the conversation to steer it away.

Plus side: His aunt was telling him he was going to hell and I thought she was being serious. Turns out she was full on joking and feels the same way about religion that we do lmao
