I' m much more concerned with a couple of punks with knives deciding to carve me up in a parking lot - or some asshole road raging and deciding he needs to get out and beat somebody up.

I carry a gun for the same reason I wear a seatbelt - or a life jacket on a boat. I' m not afraid of crashing or sinking - but I am prepared should it happen.

I think the ratio of possibility of harm to possibility of good does recommend the wearing of seat belt or life jacket as suitable comparisons for the wearing of a gun.

And I think you are free to make that assessment and be gun free.

Are you doing everything you can to get people to quit smoking? How about driving less? You giving out free condoms?

Those issues dwarf guns as a killer of people -- but they lack the impact (pun intended) of guns....

I know the state provides condoms for free, stock market, kinda small for me. Also pills for the ladies. Driving is worked via more mass transit infrastructure and smoking is taxed to hell.

Quitting smoking and driving less are both great ideas. Of what a person can do for their own health by reference to their own behavior. We do actually help people out with both.

Perhaps you might be able to understand the difference between that, and someone else shooting you.

Prosecutors on Friday filed a terrorist threat charge against a 20-year-old man who said he walked into a Missouri store wearing body armor and carrying a loaded rifle and handgun to test whether Walmart would honor his constitutional right to bear arms.

Andreychenko said his intention was to buy grocery bags. The rifle had a loaded magazine inserted, but a round was not chambered. A handgun on his right hip was loaded with one round in the chamber.

But I can't take use my pack of smokes to murder 9 people in less than 9 seconds. I cant bust out a window 32 stories up, and murder over 50 people at a concert. with a pack of cigarettes.

"Other bad shit happens, so don't do shit about this" IS FUCKING BULLSHIT.

There is no such thing as a "High capacity pack of cigarettes".

Just like there is no such thing as a "High capacity video game"

Just like there is no such thing as "High capacity mental illness"

There is such a thing as ease of access.

There is just firearm CEOs suckering gullible people like you into fear so they can keep their market and profits.

Should people not smoke? NO FUCKING SHIT! 

But that does not mean anyone should  have to fear having their brains/guts blown out for merely going shopping, to a movie, to a concert, to work, to school or to a house of worship.

And if you must know, I wish we did with tobacco and alcohol what Australia does. They don't have their tobacco adds in stores. They have nondescript drawers with no logos on them, just numbers. And they don't plaster tobacco adds where kids can see them. And with alcohol they don't have ABC stores,  but all alcohol, beer and whine included, are sold in private shops separate from grocery stores where kids can see it.  

And they also still sell firearms but they simply don't make them like candy or hand them out like candy. Just like we should not sell tobacco or alcohol to kids. Not everyone needs a firearm, nor should have a firearm. Just like it is legal to sell alcohol, but drinking and driving is illegal, and we don't sell booze to 5 year olds.

REGULATIONS are not bans. DUMBASS!
