"Good" & "Bad" Christians?
RE: "Good" & "Bad" Christians?

Like I've said, Christianity has strayed from what it originally was. Christians today are hardly Christian at all.

edit: When's the last time we had an inquisition? At least those guys believed they were carrying out god's work. Your average Christian today only goes to church when their parents are in town and they hardly follow any of the teachings of the Bible, metaphorical or otherwise.

There is no debate to be had here. Christians today HAVE strayed from what Christianity used to be. And thank god for that. Christians use to be some despicable fucks.

Inquisition was some 1200 years after Christianity originated. To call it representative of original or authentic Christianity is just stupid. We know what the early christian movement looked like, from both it’s critics and supporters and it wasn’t for that.

If you say so.

ROFLOL
In so far as the adult long accustomed to having free reign to act act out his proclivities is less authentic than the fetus stuck in the womb able to do nothing, perhaps the inquisition is not authentically Christian.

But how about the Adolescent was just beginning to explore his power when barely out of the house in which he was born.  Is that more authentic?

Or is it your view that Christianity is only authentic when utterly powerless like a fetus in a womb?

If so, I would be happy with any arrangement required to keep Christianity as authentic as possible.

If you want to refer to Hypatia, please keep in mind that she was a Neoplatonist who believed that the One creates the physical world by emanation through the Nous.

If she were posting on this forum, you would insult her ideas and Acrobat would be far more tolerant of them.

Your smarminess not withstanding, What a pitiful effort at obfuscation. What ideals she held is of no import next to her fate in the hands of the followers of the prince of peace.

It was very bad of the Christians to kill her. She should not have been killed merely for being involved in a political dispute among the different factions.

I am clear about this: she should not have been killed.

Please keep in mind that the other Neoplatonic teachers in Alexandria were not killed.

Okay I will challenge you on that!  (I'm a newbie and congrats, you win my 1st reply/ challenge).

If you mean that there were people who were "good at being Nazis", okay there were "good Nazis".  But my claim, and challenge to you, is that there is no such thing as a "good Nazi" because a "Nazi" is definitionally a person engaged in/ supporting an *objectively* BAD ideology and agenda.

Were there good people who got caught up in/ influenced by Nazism...?  Probably... but then I think they stopped being "good" the moment they started supporting/ engaging in Nazism.  Did some of them go back to being good people after the war, and after giving up all that stuff.  Okay... I can even allow for that.  But I reject the concept "good Nazi".

Yes...? no...?  LMK what you think.

There were bonafide Nazis who, either through ignorance or cognitive dissonance, Were undissuaded from electing to undertake actions that would appear incompatibility with the the ideology they proclaimed to have embraced.  The actions they undertook proved to be noble, humanitarian, and of positive consequences far outweighing any contribution their membership in the party may have made towards strengthening and furthering the goals of the Nazis.   However, while they undertook such actions, it is reasonable to suppose they would not have renounced nazism even had the option been available.   I would say these were the good Nazis.

I get that it's easier for you guys to believe that all of the negative aspects of Christian behaviors are the ones that DON'T TRULY represent Christianity... but unfortunately, it's quite the opposite. And it's a good thing, too. Thank god that Jesus' followers suck lol

I read a good book when I first started high school called, 'Lord, Save Us From Your Followers,' by Dan Merchant. Looking back, it was a book riddled with poorly constructed apologetic arguments, but at least the guy was taking a stand for the fence-sitting moderate Christians out there who only attend church when their parents are in town. Good for him. We need more Christians like that.
If you're frightened of dying, and you're holding on, you'll see devils tearing your life away. But if you've made your peace, then the devils are really angels, freeing you from the Earth.

I'm sorry that you "get" that, because it's not what I'm saying.

And here again, as always, you "argue" by repeating your assertion. No explanation as to why I should believe you.
