Global Peace Index

RE: Global Peace Index
Someone asks OLB for evidence.

OLB: “I knew this guy.”

🤦‍♀️

RE: Global Peace Index
Let's look at some factors that would compel people to travel hundreds or even thousands of KM from their homes to the USA, carrying little to nothing. I don't believe anybody would uproot themselves to make such a journey unless they were truly desperate. Some factors that I can see:

1. The failed war on drugs and gang violence the failed war on drugs creates.
2. Donald Trump cutting off aid to Central America (not suggesting you like the man)
3. Honduras (a country you left out in your original post) being a more violent place than even Iraq some years.

I quote the article from the Spectator Wrote:And that ‘in 2012 and 2013, more people were murdered in Honduras than in Iraq, even though the population in Honduras is three times smaller’. Also that in 2012, there were 7,100 murders. That’s 598 per month, or ‘20 daily homicides,’ in a country with a population of 7,000,000. London, with a slightly higher population, has around one murder per day. Almost all murders in London lead to a trial. In Honduras 91 per cent don’t.

Honduras is still a very violent place, thanks to the failed war on drugs. I could go on. I see foreign aid as a way to provide opportunities for the less fortunate as it can help to build prosperity and means they are less inclined to leave.

I don't know if this has been mentioned, but many of the Latin American countries have skewed results in the Global Peace Index due to low "Militarisation" and "Domestic & Int. Conflict" scores. When we look at the "Safety & Security" score only: the United States scores far better on this, meaning that members of the general public are not safe in these countries.

Yup it was mentioned by Rye Rye . But it can't be repeated enough.

RE: Global Peace Index
OLB likes to excuse himself for various reasons. Mass shooting are about videogames because he likes his guns and as responsible citizen he doesn't have to adhere to regulations. 2nd amendment just in case the redcoats return. Lel, the Brits have long left their red uniforms, it kinda made them stand out as targets in modern warfare.

The mean bad brown people from south america are invading to take money from previous invaders of north america. He does chose his words carefully, a bunch of excuses to his fear. Well indeed fear is a powerfull fuel for idiocy, just as it was demonstrated.

On a side note, In Portugal we use the revision system on constituation. We change it, yet keep the previous versions as part of our history, including the constitution that the dictatorship used. Hell even from the time of constitutional monarchy, as to forget the past, binds you to make the same mistakes later. Why in the US the constitution is threated as it was written in stone tablets, adding more stones as they go? Why is it so... sacred?

I see fear, a powerful drive for idiots, a usefull tool for populist politicians. Demagogory is it then.

RE: Global Peace Index
That "global peace index" looks like a value laden political statement rather than any sort of objective number. So it seems pointless to argue what that index means with respect to immigration. Sure, actual numbers might be used, but then a value of peace is arbitrarily assigned and weight given to these numbers without any objectivity.
