So what's your point about swing and independent voters being tired of Trump?

He is way down in the polls, even FOX, and that says something.

The rust belt and swing voters prior to his running did not know what NYC always knew. Most who support him only knew he was a rich guy who didn't talk like a rich guy, and love him because he wasn't "politically correct". But now that he isn't simply a reality TV star selling "get rich utopias", they are seeing that he isn't the shiny object they thought he was.

Actually, he is slightly ahead of where Obama was at this point eight years ago.

He lost the popular vote by about 3 000 000 and stell managed to get elected.  I don't expect there's going to be enough movement on this particular scandal to suppose 2020 will be much different.

Based on his known, admitted corruption, I think that - at this point - Trump could beat a box of kittens to death on the South Lawn of the White House in full view of the press and still get re-elected.

Trump is a con, a fraud and a bully, and the fucker should be in prison.

And nobody is celebrating, but he does not have the same support he did during his run.

Trump unfortunately is like Gotti, a greased pig, so nothing the fucker does suprises me. But he is still not where he was when he was running.

I agree, we should not assume shit about him. But he still does not have the new car smell that got him elected.

I feel like you're being needlessly hostile, but I'll continue to try and have a normal conversation.

While what you say sounds great, the people who do like him fucking love him. They get off on his antics and they treat his Presidency like it's just a big game; they seem to enjoy the things he does to piss off the media and revel in it like a pig in shit.

Every time I visit my grandparents I avoid the topic of Trump like a plague because no matter what the guy does they defend it, and trust me when I tell you that it's a hill they don't mind dying on. Them being my grandparents, I try to just avoid the subject because it's an inevitable conflict between them and I and that's not what I want our time together to be. It just surprises me so much because they voted blue their entire lives. It kills me.

And you know what? People like my grandparents are showing up on voting day, unlike the hoards of liberals who cry, "voting doesn't matter, maaaan," as they finish off their seventh bong rip of the day and dig into their second bag of doritos. It's a joke.

So as much as we all complain and bitch and circle jerk each other about how shitty Trump is, the question remains, what are you gonna' do about it? If your call to action sums up to bitching about him on the internet, just remember you get what you pay for.

I'm not too hopeful, but I hope you're right Brian. I hope the polls reflect a real change in how people are thinking. But as we know all too well, statistics don't dictate reality.

I don't.  Trump is rising in the polls, not dropping.

Well you took that sentence out of context

I was saying this based on the assumption that Brian is right.

So in other words, if what Brian is saying is right about the polls, then I hope the polls reflect reality.

I think you understood that though

Actually, I didn't - I misunderstood you.  Sorry, my badski.

Oh ok, gotcha. To be honest, I'm not always so confident in polls. I think we can use them to try and have a base to discuss from, but like I said before 2016 showed us that polls don't necessarily mean a whole lot.

I disagree. Like I said, he is a greased pig for sure. But with his constant lies and repeated vile behavior, he is losing support in swing suburbs, and he is hurting farmers and factory workers in the swing states he won last time.

His base certainly will not leave him, but I don't think it is going to be as easy this time for him.

I will say though it has been deeply disturbing to me since he started his run that he has gotten away with everything he has done so far that would have sunk any other president.

I'd also say that Dems should not take anything for granted in any case.

*shrug*  Disagree all you like.  Unless your economy tanks in a real, meaningful way (meaning unemployment soars and the markets crash), Trump is going to be re-elected.  I doubt there's enough time for an economic disaster to happen.

Hostile to who? If you agree that 45 is a vile bully and unfit, you should not think I am taking it out on you.

Yes I am hostile to that fuckface bully. No I am not sorry. And I am on line every day, raising my voice, not just here but everywhere constantly contacting multiple times a day local and national media, State and Congressional officials, and motivating everyone to do the same. Every voice counts. And I wouldn't assume using social media to do so doesn't work, it certainly helped that jackass, so if he can motivate people with social media so can we.

And yes everyone who is sane and knows what a danger he is should vote.

You just seem to be very excitable on this topic. And no, I can still understand what an unfit POTUS Trump is and also feel you're taking it out on me. The two aren't mutually exclusive.

However, keep in mind that most one-term Presidents were one-term Presidents for a reason.

https://www.thoughtco.com/one-term-us-pr...ts-3322257

A quick scan through that article will show you that more often than not, issues with the economy were the reason for a President losing the election the second time around. So, for better or worse, Brian 2 might be right. Unless we have some sort of economic disaster, or at least something resembling it, it may very well be that Trump will be with us for another four.

Once again, I hope he's wrong, but I don't have much reason to believe he is. Honestly, liberals should be shouldering a good amount of the blame for this Presidency. It's a shame, but it's true. People like AOC are making it worse, as good (or bad) as her ideas may be. I tend to agree with people like her, actually. The left should be taking a stand and telling the right to go fuck themselves, just like they do to us. However, that doesn't seem to jive with the American people, unfortunately. If you disagree with that, then I ask you, why is Trump in office? He took advantage of the discontent people were feeling for the Democrats. He's an opportunist at least.

So, yeah, as much as I hate to say it, we may very well be stuck with Trump until '24. Then, we'll probably have a Democratic President for eight years. And the wheel keeps on turning.
