If one individual tells me something is offensive to them, I take it that they are offended, not that every single person who is in any grouping they could feasibly fit into feels the same way. Artists like it when you sing their music, go to their shows, buy their merch.
I don't particularly want men to think of women as hos, but I'm not going to ask people not to sing along to "Hoochie Mama." If a specific woman felt that way, don't blast the song and sing it in her face as a matter of decency. I don't share that view, so come sing along with me. Don't assume the offended speak for a whole group of people.
There is a world of difference between the way it's meant in most music and the way it's meant when a racist says it. If you can't recognize the subtleties and cultural nuances of language, that's fine. Just don't expect me to similarly limit myself. Believe me, I'm equally offended when it's used in an offensive manner. It has a horrible history, but it's not up to me to tell black people they can't use it in a new way. Sure. People are free to say what they want. I choose not to do or say something that has been pointed out to me as being offensive, if that person who points it out is someone I respect.

This seems to me to be the very nub of the gist - black people (and in this context, black artists) are using the word in a way that doesn't have derogatory or racist connotations. But they're being sort of sort of two faced by insisting that white people not say the word in precisely the same way. If Ice-NukkleBoy22 (made that up, I don't the names of that many rap artists) uses the word in a song to mean 'my friends', 'my social group' and 'the people I hang out with', if I sing along to ALL the words, I'm using that word in exactly the same way and context as the artist.
Uttering a handful of syllables doesn't make someone a racist.

I don't think black artists are being two-faced and insisting we don't sing along with their songs, using their words in the exact same way. It was some Netflix show that started this thread. None of the rap artists I listen to have insisted I don't sing their songs, to my knowledge.

I typically feel the same way. None of my black friends or family have told me not to sing rap music. In fact, my white cousin drops n-bombs in the context of black community in front of her black husband. Always shocks the shit out of me, but I remember it's not my culture. I wouldn't at all use that word in a sentence around anyone of color, but I would rap it in a song around anyone.

Why are so very many white people obsessed with the word? You pretty much answered that within the body of your post didn't you? Lol
They already know they can say the n-word they want to; No one's hauling them off in handcuffs because of it.
What they want is the freedom to casually refer to folks as N**GERS without receiving any pesky back-talk or even so much as a side glance. They LOVE saying it and will attempt come any excuse they can think of do to so because as you alluded earlier; It reaffirms their sense of racial dominance/superiority. They simply wish n**gers would be more cooperative and accepting in that assertion.
That's not going to happen in this day and time, of course, so they settle for the thrill of saying it over and over again like snot-nosed, racist toddlers.
Submitting that it's perfectly fine to say it on account of the fact that some Black folks who do (regardless of their reasons) with "BUt WuT aBOut tHosE raPpErzz, hUh!? BaHH..wE wOn't SToP UnTil THeY dO!" is just another extension of the White Supremacist No-win Scenario in which ALL Black people must adhere to a standard of collective perfection before common courtesy and basic respect can be seriously considered for ANY of us.
It's a bullshit, of course. Respectability politics is a ruse if there ever was one.
The OP is nothing more than dog whistle for white folks to come and vent their racial resentments, because this scenario only presents a significant real-life "problem" for loud, obnoxious, motherfuckers who want to be heard so they can turn around and screech that white people are the ones who are truly being oppressed.
And the funny thing is, the OP has an extensive track record of posting precisely that sort of shit AND then expressing disgust and bewilderment as to how so many White Americans are so easily swayed into voting their white anxiety and supporting Trump. How indeed...lol

All that being said, do you make a distinction between 'using' the n-word and 'saying' the n-word?

I'm just a dumb you-know-what.
lol, not quite. Well, maybe.
Just interested in your opinion. If a white person simply says the word under discussion - without any censoring or euphemisms - is that person necessarily racist?

Don’t go there with me sweetie.

I've never suggested such a thing.
Ugh...Personally, I'd rather not have this conversation with you, but I can't exactly put you on ignore can I? Tragic.
I'm not inclined to do this with white folks anymore because I'm convinced that most of the ones who use it know exactly why and when it's offensive and just don't give a fuck. I've seen that play out many times here in gratuitous, giddy N**GGERFESTS because enough forums members simply love seeing it on the screen. I know better than try and stop white people from say it, and simply expect that they should know better than to stop me from saying piece as well. That's was my POV, and message to BQ.
I don't care what your thoughts on how I feel about the word. I AGREE that White people have the right say it as when and wherever they you want. I just don't agree that they should also determine how I must feel and respond. That's like, some fucking next level racial supremacist thinking, if you really think about it.
Anyway, I can't do that for them. They shouldn't even be suggesting as much.
I'm getting out of the craptastic thread, because I've got cooking to do and know from past experience that it can go nowhere but ASS.
Nice going @ Fierce, you attention-whoring mega-beast.
