Any of you attend a Christian University/high school. What were your thoughts?

Went to Catholic school for the first couple of years.

My thoughts were “What did I do to deserve this?”

I did half of my undergraduates at a private Christian university, then later transferred to a public school due to finances. At the Christian university there was more of an academic sense of community that I enjoyed. Professors would host dinners at their homes for students, and the smaller class sizes allowed for better discussions to be had about a given topic. In my public university there were maybe 500 students per class, so its very difficult to connect with your professors or engage in discussions.

Academically both schools are pretty much identical. They all have to follow the same curriculum, and basically use the same textbooks. Classes differ by professor, so there's just as much variation within each school as there is between them. However, I did feel as if the Christian school was more rigorous, in the sense that we had more assignments due and attendance was mandatory. In the public university you could miss class all semester and only show up during exams and pass the class. Projects, attendance, and assignments are simply not practical with 500 students.

I enjoyed both equally, but for their unique reasons.

Thanks, Boru. Maybe when I have time, I’ll talk about my days at a Catholic high school.

Kindergarten was at a catholic school. Nuns were mean. Had to wear uniforms. Priest of the school was a known crook. Used to go to vegas and buy whores and coke for the weekend and went by the name jimmy diamond. I thought that was funny

Raffle money came up missing one year. Priest mysteriously got a brand new cadillac shortly after.

Yeah. I'm glad I didn't attend this school as an Undergrad. However, for a Christian school lots of these kids at my Uni seem like party animals. Whenever I'm walking out of class I walk by a set of dorms and I can usually hear a party going on. haha

Reminds me of that episode of George Lopez in which his mother steals the $10,000 his baseball coach gave him when he died. But the Mom pocketed the money, bought a new car and took them to Vegas. haha

I went to a Catholic high school, and it was actually fairly decent. The teachers (for the most part) didn't let church dogma get in the way of their jobs. And remarkably, most of the teachers were okay with my not believing in God. I was bullied a bit, but then I figured out how to balance being seen as brilliant and completely fucking insane, and it evaporated by Senior Year (except for one incident where students decided to set up a fake Facebook page for me and make fake posts that I would shoot up the school, a crisis averted when I set up my own Facebook page and promptly neglected it). It wasn't perfect, and there were a lot of boys who were what I would like to call "prison gay," and tried to make me their gunsel, but compared to my nine years at a Lutheran grade school, where I was subject to bullying that was (for all intents and purposes) school-sanctioned, it was practically a paradise.

Catholic high school, here. Was a better shot at a decent future than any public school in my area. Other than that, meh, what?
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

I had to attend a Catholic high school for four years. Next to my service in Vietnam, it was the most depressing time of my life. I suffered from long periods of ennui. Needless to say, I was proud to be the only student in the graduating class who did not buy the yearbook. I have never attended a high school reunion.  Dodgy

I don't blame you. HS reunions are weird. And everyone just lies at those things just like in that Family Guy episode. I never bought a yearbook in high school either. It was just a waste of money imo. And Nam? I bet you have some interesting stories.
