I would love to be able to turn into a wolf, join a strong pack, and hunt American bison in the dead of winter in Yellowstone.

Ok if we are going to keep on about whether it is ethical for humans to do what all life does, consume living things to keep being living things themselves then we need to decide whether we are talking Aristotelian Virtue based ethics, Kantian Duty based ethics or Benthams Utilitarianism. (I’m more of a Nietzsche guy myself but you gotta go with the big three) somebody define ethical beyond “bunnies are so cute nobody should hurt them” then we can let the dissambiguation (sic) begin...

Factory killing is at least as bad as hunting.

Disagree. Far fewer humans die in slaughterhouse accidents than die in hunting accidents.

Animals suffer at least as much in slaughterhouses as they do from hunting.

A bolt gun doesn't cause much pain for very long.

Just curious - how do you know that either of the groups of animals are suffering?

I think it would be more accurate to say that poorly killed animals suffer.
