Disability and Universal Healthcare

RE: Disability and Universal Healthcare
Just for the record, Yang’s freedom dividend plan seems fine and all, but the odds of his winning the nomination are slim to none. I know they said that about Trump, but, by this point in 2015, he was actually racing ahead in the polls, and Yang himself remains at about 3%. Perhaps some less long shot candidate can pick it up, maybe smooth over issues with the VAT, but if Yang actually somehow wins the nomination, I will eat my own head.

Yeah, yeah, I know. Yang probably isn't going to make it and that is ok, but the idea is interesting and we need to face the facts that jobs are being automated away and free money is a way to manage that although worth has to be generated somehow for that money to be worth anything. Bill Gates says an automation tax could do the trick. It would also make companies think twice about replacing people with automation.

not necessarily they’ll just do what a lot of companies secretly do, hire disabled people for sub minimum wages if they can’t use machines they’ll use the lowest skilled workers and pay them pennies on the hour which is sickeningly legal

BQ, have you applied for disability with Social Security? You don't have to wait until you're retired to get Social Security if you have an impairment that keeps you from working.
I'm not anti-Christian. I'm anti-stupid.

And Medicaid as well if you're in the US.

Here, everyone gets care. When it comes to health care, the US is a third world country.

Health care is relatively affordable in many third world countries.

I’d definitely trade quality for access.

God-fucking-damn. $750 a month and you’re blind? Chris-Chan makes more from SSDI, despite having sight, autism, and no desire whatsoever for gainful employment. Someone like that getting more from the same service from someone who actually can’t work strikes me as a jaw-dropping injustice.

For more information on this particular case, witness this NSFW (and NSFMH) article about the “monthly tugboat”.
