[Quranic Reflection]: The universe is expanding
#51
RE: [Quranic Reflection]: The universe is expanding
That's where the islamic nutters got the verse from. Or, you know, it was a ghost in a cave. 50/50
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

I translated the whole verse in page 1:

https://atheistforums.org/thread-61164-p...pid1983829

Quote:لموسعون

will expand it

Language never changes; MA. Literally, the word "اوسع-اجعله واسع" means "to expand".
Translate it with google too if you don't believe me:

https://translate.google.com/#view=home&...ext=expand

Here is a link for an Arabic-Arabic dictionary that includes ancient translations for the word too:

https://www.almaany.com/ar/dict/ar-ar/%D...%B3%D8%B9/

Allow me to quote:

Quote:وسَّع الشَّيءَ: صيَّرهُ واسعًا، كبَّرهُ، خلاف ضيَّقه
Expanded something: made it wide; made it bigger; opposite of made it narrow
  • وسَّع ثروته: زادها،
    Expanded his fortune: increased it

In slang , we say to an angry person: وسع صدرك which means literally "expand your chest"; i.e "become more patient/make your chest wider".

Well shit, I'm convinced. God is great, pass the salt.

You obviously mistake the Quran with an article about Nostradamus.
Please stay on track with what I answered with.

If you are so confident in your assertion that the qu'ran predicted scientific discoveries, you should be able to point out to something in it you believe is telling us about something scientific endeavour hasn't discovered yet.

The fact that you're not even trying to point to some such idea and worse yet, simply denigrating the rest of us for not unqestioningly accepting your unevidenced assertions simply shows you up as a liar and a coward, a fact that you are personally all too aware of.

The same point was made by Peebo-Thuhlu , and my reply to her was:

Quote:WinterHold said:

I don't know how can I rephrase that the Quran said that the heaven is expanding.
It is not a competition, rather a clear statement that scientific discovery approved as a fact.

Isn't this what non-Muslims were asking for regarding the Quran?

I don't care about what Pluto or Frudo has to show. Islam never said that scientific discovery is forbidden; that's Christianity and the Church, not us Muslims.

In other words; stop ignoring the OP and belly dancing towards other topics.

You believe that magic book, written centuries ago, contained predictions about the current state of scientific knowledge, and yet you can point to no such scientific miracles in the present.

Dude, just lie, lie like the people who sold this bullshit to you. How hard can that be? It's not as if you'll have to acknowledge your lies in the future. They've never had to, and you won't do it now.

You're the one claiming that the Quran predicted the expansion of the universe long before Hubble did. That's entirely in line with Nostradamus.

Quote:The Quran states explicitly in this verse that the universe is expanding

No, it doesn't. Your own translation states:

Sahih International
And the heaven We constructed with strength, and indeed, We are [its] expander.

Absolutely nothing in there about the universe or the expansion of space-time. Your interpretation isn't science, it's poetic license and post hoc rationalization. That's why not one single Muslim knew about the expansion of space-time until after Hubble did.

I'll help. I used a random verse generator to get this.

Quote:Eat and take your ease (on earth) a little. Lo! ye are guilty.
This is clearly a scientific miracle in magic book. How could an illiterate carpet salesman in 700ad have known about krebs cycle? Hans Krebs would be awarded the nobel prize for his work on metabolic systems in 1953.

Praise allah, pass the salt!

Scientifically, this couldn't be more true:

http://www.bbc.com/earth/story/20150602-...iverse-end

Quote:Then in 1929, the American astronomer Edwin Hubble found hard evidence that the universe was expanding. Einstein changed his mind, calling his previous insistence on a static universe the "greatest blunder" of his career.

I love science! This is why: It increases our knowledge of nature. The most current information is the best. Knowledge builds upon past knowledge. There is no need to deify older scientists. There were Atomists among the ancient Greek philosophers. They were right, in a way. They were wrong in other ways. No spooky god thing needed.
God thinks it's fun to confuse primates. Larsen's God!
