The US Supreme Court ruled many years ago (1989) that desecration of the US flag is protected under the 1st Amendment. Burning, in that particular case.

His worshipers are eating that up, too. It'll be a good day when they have to slink back down. I think that burning the flag is an extremely misguided act, though. It just makes the people doing it look like rabble, in my eyes. Then again, driving around with flags on the trucks like has been mentioned, I consider just a different kind of rabble. Freedom to look like a jerk is a right.
