My only conclusion if we consider the original intent and design this it a single use . Now in practical use it could be multi use (technically anything could be multi use  ).Really it comes down to context which is why i agree to disagree with Brian because i think both of us are technically right

Because in the context of intent and design it is a single use item . Though it could be multi use in the context of pragmatic use . As for the context being ancient China . Why not ? And even if not it's clear firearms were generally used for military purposes early on . I really don't how this is controversial or problematic and as i said i can agree to disagree .

Then what was the purpose in bringing up your mistaken point that guns are ONLY used to kill people? Because not only is that not their only use, it isn’t even their primary use. It’s a brute fact that guns are used more often to kill animals than people, and I would venture to guess that more rounds of ammunition are expended on paper targets than on either people or animals.

That being said, I don’t dispute your point that the majority of guns purchased in the US are bought for emotional or fetishistic reasons, but that seems kind of damaging to your overall argument. If guns are bought for reasons other than your stated use value (killing people), then it necessarily follows that people don’t buy guns in order to be able to kill other people. That people ARE killed by guns is irrelevant.

This isn’t to say that gun deaths and gun violence in the US isn’t a serious problem (it plainly is), just saying that this particular line of reasoning seems pretty flawed.

In a pew survey on gun ownership done in march of 2017, 67% listed protection as their primary reason for buying a gun.

I'm not kink shaming, but that's definitely a kink. We do alot of things that reduce to fetishism, especially in the context of purchasing - it's not a comment on why we shouldn't be able to buy those things - but rejecting the phenomena for what it is is equally pointless.

I don't know. I kind of see it like the Trayvon Martin case. Zimmerman seems to be a terrible person, and he shouldn't have been following Martin, but he broke no laws in doing so and was rightly found not guilty because it seems to have been a justifiable killing in self defense.

He broke no laws?  He murdered an innocent, unarmed teen who was doing nothing to threaten him.  And he did it in cold blood and in a premeditated fashion.

Just because the state of Florida has declared itself without law doesn't mean Zimmerman's not a law breaker.

And, honestly, looking at the case, the most charitable interpretation of Zimmerman’s actions I think is plausible is that he might have just been that paranoid and an innocent black teen died because of it. And that’s just be being extremely charitable towards him.

And if Zimmerman is really that paranoid, then there's no way he should ever be left out of a secure mental institution, except for to be buried.

Trayvon was doing nothing to threaten him, other than bashing his skull. This is an atheist forum, and you are making claims with no evidence. A pre-meditated killing? The evidence shows no such thing. Did Zimmerman plan on getting his bead bashed and bloodied so he'd have an excuse to shoot? You are coming at this purely with emotion and you have no evidence to back up your claims. You do not understand the meaning of murder. Exactly, which makes Nomad's claim all the more ridiculous when he calls it a pre-meditated murder. He just 'knows' what Zimmerman was thinking, because Zimmerman had a gun, and "guns are bad", and Trayvon had black skin, so therefore it's a pre-meditated murder. Religious thinking. He has faith that this is the case.
