Isnt Atheism just Marxism

Because once you have made up your mind that there is no god, or there is no need for capitalism. Then its really useless to debate it any further when one isnt open to other ideas.
People who are deists, theists or pantheists or even agnostics to some degree tend to be more open minded. So it just doesnt seem like there is any point to debate atheists about religion in same way there is no point debating a marxist of the benefits of capitalism

No, atheism is a comment on a persons state of belief with regards to gods. It's not a political position. There's no particular need to debate atheists about religion (and most of the worlds atheists are religious)....but if you were going to do so, the fact that they don't believe in gods is irrelevant. Religions are not gods. We routinely debate the merit of this or that religion or this or that religious concept because, regardless of whether or not gods exist and have an effect on this world, those religions and those concepts do.
I've been on a kick lately to help theists understand that proving their religion™ and proving their god are not the same thing...and that, ultimately, it's their failure to provide a compelling argument for their religion, not their god, that causes them the most trouble. Consider the problem that conversion evangelists in other communities of faith have. Everyone there believes in god - they just don't agree on religion.
I'll demonstrate - let's assume that whatever god you believe in exists. Isn't that nice! Saved you all that time and worry. Now, assuming that whatever god you believe in exists...I have no interest in joining your club. How would you convince me otherwise, what debate about your religion would you like to have?

Atheism allows me to smoke meth until my heart is content. Also, it allows me to fuck dead babies, then eat them without an ounce of regret. On the weekends, I get to brutalize little old blue haired ladies. I am the regional champion in this regard. I should clinch the title this upcoming weekend.
