No, the eclipse was already mentioned in the previous verse 8:
Quote:(8) and the moon is dimmed, Dr. Mustafa Khattab, the Clear Quran
Which in another translation it is:
Quote:(8) and the moon is eclipsed, Fadel Soliman, Bridges’ translation
First the moon will be eclipsed (verse 8)
Then the moon and the sun will be joined together (verse 9)
#note: by pressing "settings" in the website I provided in the OP; you can see different translations.
When the moon is dimmed, it is a *lunar* eclipse. When the sun and moon are joined in the sky, it is a *solar* eclipse.
Sheesh.

At work.
No! Magic book words must only mean what WinterHold or whomever is interpreting magic book says they mean to bolster what ever thing they are tyring to make fit.
Again, it's something already known. Something 'After the modern/current understanding'.
It's never about unknown things currently residing just beyond the edge of our knowledge/understanding.
Nothing about getting humanity closer to understanding cancer, for instance.

Earth will no longer be suitable for human habitation long before then; the level of atmospheric CO2 will no longer be high enough to sustain plant life that uses C3 carbon fixation photosynthesis: our atmosphere will no longer sustain trees or other plant life that depends on relatively high CO2 levels. That's about 600 million years out. About 400 million more years should do for the remaining plant life, not to mention runaway ocean evaporation.
The most likely way for our descendants, if we still have any, to still be around to witness the disintegration of the moon into a ring whose pieces eventually fall to earth will be from a safer distance farther out in the solar system.
I'm not anti-Christian. I'm anti-stupid.

The verse describes how the planetary system will break down in the day of ressurection, it's not hard to get that, the sun and the moon can then really collide and be "brought together". Why do you think it's refering to solar eclipse ?

Because to uninformed and primative people, that's just what an eclipse looks like. As has already been explained

Because I'm not trying to force a bizarre interpretation to keep the text saying something true.

The Quran stated that humans will be resurrected in an environment different from the one existed today:
Quote:Sura 18, Verse 48:
https://quran.com/14/48?translations=
(48) ˹Watch for˺ the Day ˹when˺ the earth will be changed into a different earth and the heavens as well, and all will appear before Allah—the One, the Supreme. Dr. Mustafa Khattab, the Clear Quran
Thus we too will probably be different, created again with mightier bodies to handle more extreme conditions.
That's why some humans will live for billions of years in hell which I think is a black hole, while others will live eternally in paradise which is probably an alien planet so far from the collapsing universe.

It's not a bizarre interpretation, it's the main interpretation, dude.
