Yes, but that doesn't include those who have been infected but didn't get tested (asymptomatic or few symptoms).  The number dead vs infected is probably less than 1%, but that is still a freak'n high number, considering that the virus could easily infect most of the country!  And if you are older, that number goes up to 10% plus!

Welll who is the OP? i'm not even sure at this point. All I know is that I've followed all the guidelines and I social distance. I just think TX lifted the mask mandate too soon, but another part of me wonders if we just didn't worry about it at all then what would really happen? This pandemic is scary but is it that scary? I'm just asking questions.

(Btw, if your method predicts an outcome 16.7% better than chance then unless your margin of error is greater than or equal to 16.7%, then it is by definition better than guessing.)

Well, to date 540 thousand Americans (and climbing) are dead because of it, so yes, it's really that scary. Glad you got your vaccine and are being safe.

Also, vaccine effectiveness tends to hinge on enough people being immune to the disease in question to allow for herd immunity, which, as far as I can tell, has not been achieved anywhere with COVID yet.
