Pretty sure Neil isn't worried about his finances. But it is the principle. Neil is sticking up for truth, Spotify is selling crap that is putting lives in danger.
It breaks down like this:
People Under 30: 'Who's Neil Young?'
People 30-60: 'I didn't realize Neil Young was still alive.'
People Over 60: 'What's a spotify?'

Spotify has shutdown its live customer support due to an unprecedented number of complaints after they doubled-down on their Joe Rogan anti-vax campaign.

teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

Moving up the alphabet, next it will be Lois Lane and her sister.

It is incredible that we are repeating history like this. The same crap was said about when Katharine Hepburn wore pant suits in movies.
There’s a tremendous difference. Actresses who wore slacks in the 1930s and 40s (not just Hepburn, but Marlene Dietrich, Greta Garbo, etc) were seen as threatening by some - though by no means all - men. This was only partly due to their sartorial choices, and much more to the fact that they were aggressive and intelligent.
The current flap over candy and cartoon mice isn’t the same. No one - not even the conservative yammerheads making the noise about it - sees this as a threat. It’s just one more inconsequential thing for them to flap their gums about.
