This is kind of a weird one:

Owning an outdoor cat as a child is associated with an increased risk of psychotic experiences in adulthood — but only in males, new research suggests.

Investigators found male children who owned cats that went outside had a small, but significantly increased, risk of psychotic experiences in adulthood vs their counterparts who had no cat during childhood or who had an indoor cat.

The suspected culprit is not the cat itself but rather exposure to Toxoplasma gondii (T. gondii), a common parasite carried by rodents and sometimes found in cat feces. The study adds to a growing evidence showing exposure to T gondii may be a risk factor for schizophrenia and other psychotic disorders.

Digging where a cat has buried its waste and inhaling dust from it is sufficient.

Nigerian Man Sentenced To24 Years For Blasphemy

While I absolutely admire the courage of his convictions, sometimes it's important to learn when to shut up.

Oklahoma lawmakers on Tuesday passed a bill that would make it illegal to perform an abortion in the state except in medical emergencies, penalizing those who do with up to $100,000 in fines and 10 years in prison.

I saw that. The article I read made a point of stressing that the minimum penalty for first degree rape in Oklahoma is five years. So, if a medical professional provides an abortion to a rape victim, he gets sentenced to twice as much time as her attacker.

I have a question - if Elon succeeds in buying twitter, will his concept of a free and trusted public square save civilization, as he claims, or will it turn Twitter into a toxic wasteland?

I think the right-wing conspiracy nuts are salivating at being given free reign to post whatever toxic shit they can imagine. Any platform that makes money off "engagement" will have algorithms that maximize the toxicity (or will be gamed by bad actors to guarantee that the worst crap will show up in everyone's feed).

Just look at the 24-hour news channels.
