Nikolas Cruz's lawyer shows the middle finger to the judge and laughs with mass shooter about it

teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

Quote:One of the most consumed drugs in the US – and the most commonly taken analgesic worldwide – could do a lot more than simply take the edge off your headache.

Acetaminophen, also known as paracetamol and sold widely under the brand names Tylenol and Panadol, also increases risk-taking, according to a study from 2020 that measured changes in people's behavior when under the influence of the common over-the-counter medication.

"Acetaminophen seems to make people feel less negative emotion when they consider risky activities – they just don't feel as scared," explained neuroscientist Baldwin Way from The Ohio State University when the findings were published.

"With nearly 25 percent of the population in the US taking acetaminophen each week, reduced risk perceptions and increased risk-taking could have important effects on society."

The findings add to a growing body of research suggesting that acetaminophen's effects on pain reduction also extend to various psychological processes, lowering people's receptivity to hurt feelings, experiencing reduced empathy, and even blunting cognitive functions.

In a similar way, the research suggests people's affective ability to perceive and evaluate risks can be impaired when they take acetaminophen. While the effects might be slight, they're definitely worth noting, given acetaminophen is the most common drug ingredient in America, found in over 600 different kinds of over-the-counter and prescription medicines.

You know, it's starting to seem that anti-vaxxers' claim about depopulation might be wrong.

Oh great. While public schools are burning down, the idiotic schools are thriving.

Quote:Empty Classrooms, Abandoned Kids: Inside America’s Great Teacher Resignation

A survey of National Education Association members at the beginning of the year revealed an unsettling truth: More than half of the respondents said they were looking for a way out. That’s an astounding number of unhappy teachers. If they all quit, it would leave millions of students in the lurch.

But were these just empty threats? At the start of this school year, we spoke to over 50 educators in almost 20 states to find out. The picture they painted was far bleaker than we could have imagined: Empty classrooms, kids in crisis, and teachers who can’t survive another day on the job — that’s the reality of American education today.

Across the country, teachers are walking out en masse. Empty slots for jobs from teacher to bus driver and custodian aren’t being filled, and schools are scrambling to find substitutes.

Quote:Answers in Genesis, the group behind the Creation Museum and Ark Encounter, bought the former Toyota headquarters in Erlanger for an education academy

“The purchase of this building will save the ministry many tens of millions of dollars for several planned future projects and allow them to be implemented much more quickly, instead of years down the road,” CEO Ken Ham said in a press release. “Overall, this facility will provide a home for Answers Academy without having to build a major school complex.”

The plan is for the school space to comfortably accommodate 450-500 K-12 students. Answers in Genesis is also planning on running the general offices for their Answers.TV streaming service in the building.

The 205,000-square-foot facility has been vacant for four years and is located 10 minutes from the Creation Museum and the adjacent Answers in Genesis offices, which ran out of room to accommodate staff and new hires. Answers in Genesis plans to progressively move staff inside the building during the latter half of 2023 with high priority given to relocating Answers Academy from its current rented facilities.

Hawaii man sparks fury after uploading Instagram video of himself PEEING and giving finger on sacred mountain

His actions led to anger and abuse from fellow users. Upright has since posted three video apologies - each one more humble than the next, alongside a lengthy written note.

He said: 'I'm so sorry to all of you. I was so arrogant and I just didn't get it. I'm beginning to and I humbly ask for your forgiveness...'

'I am so sorry that I hurt so many people. I want to understand what it means to hold life and the land so precious and sacred that I would protect it with my life.

The State Department of Land and Natural Resources said the video 'certainly could be viewed as culturally disrespectful' but Upright will not face any penalties as there are no state laws against urinating on sacred mountains.

Nevertheless, many who viewed the original video of Upright relieving himself were upset by what they had witnessed.

'This is very disrespectful to 'aina, land and to the cultural practices of Native Hawaiians here, myself included,' Hawaii Island resident and Native Hawaiian activist Alfonso Kekuku said to KITV.

'It was just the sense of entitlement and privilege, it almost says, 'I don't care about my choices and my actions here,' and, 'I'm going to do whatever I'm going to do. I'm going to do whatever I want,'' Kekuku explained.

Some of the comments on that article are fucking awful

Quote:You telling me everyone who goes up that mountain holds it in the whole time?
They likely piss before going up

Quote:There is no bathroom on the top of hawaii's largest volcanoes, mauna loa and mauna kea everyone urinates up there if they gotta go
This person knows this how?

Quote:On a ....sacred mountain? What about all the animals that poop and pee all over the mountain? The level of snowflake society has come too is scary. Emptional reactions not only come before any rational thought but they often lead the conversation completely
Animals rarely have the option of taking a dump before going up the mountain. Ironic this douche whines about snowflakes while acting like one.... Dodgy
