CDC: New variant of covid with more than 30 mutations has hit the US. Currently ~1800 hospitalized daily but could reach as high as 7500/day. Most likely estimate is 2000 to 4000 per day by Sept 18th. A world wide spread may be similar to the Omicron variant in 2021.
