Given that it just took a single fringe Republican moving to vacate for McCarthy for him to lose his position, I don't think that's possible anymore.

If the Republicans can't settle on a Speaker they're happy with for the next year they'll be too busy to impeach Biden or come up with a national ban on abortion.  Good luck convincing voters to go with more of this.

True, but then again, if there's no Speaker, nobody in the House can do anything. I think the best we can hope for is that they eventually pick someone, and maybe they end up repeating the cycle enough times for voters to finally look past the culture war bullshit and realise that the GOP is in no position to run anything.

McCarthy agreed to the 'single member' rule change when negotiating with his own party.

As I understand it the House can rewrite it's rules every two years.
