Elections in another two german states.
Berlin: 2.5/80mio Mecklenburg-Vorpommern (Baltic coast, north-east): 1.5/80mio Meck-Pomm: Afd has gained some 20% and is now in lead Yet social democrats under the very popular Manuela Schwesig (60% of voters would like to keep her as governor) come in just behind. CDU (Party of Merz!!!!) didnt make it into the parliament at all, they didnt cross the 5% threshold! Best news is: only 4 parties in parliament, and each of the other 3 will flat out refuse to form a coalition with Afd. Democracy has been weakened, but didnt break...yet Berlin: Draws a completely different picture: Its a commie cesspool Potential coalitions: SPD/Green/Left or SPD/Green/CDU. AfD will be kept out of power Some detailed analysis about Berlin: Age: Young voters (16-24) voted 46% (!!!) Left Main topic (50%) for deciding how to vote: Housing (and Left was deemed most competent to adress this issue) Crime: Between 20%-50% of voters feel threatened by crime in Berlin. 80% of AfD voters!! AfD and democracy: 74% of voters think AfD is posing a risk for democracy (AfD scored 16%, thus almost everybody who does not vote AfD think its a threat to democracy). 5% of AfD voters think AfD is a threat to democracy (...and you vote for AfD!? Note: You are a fucking bunch of traitors and should be put in front of a wall) Age: With growing age voters tend to vote for: CDU/SPD/AfD. Mid Age votes green. Young age votes Left Education: Voters with high education tend to vote Green (20%) or Left (30%). Voters with low education tend to vote AfD (30+%) Employment: Government officials tend to vote CDU (duh, 30%). Everybody but blue collar workers tend to vote Green. Everybody but officials (15%) tends to vote Left. Blue collar workers tend to vote AfD (30%). Abstaining from vote: 37% of voters for The Left didnt vote at all in 2023

First woman scheduled for execution in Tennessee in 200 years takes 2 doses of lethal injection drugs, survives, and is heard snoring afterwards.
Sorry, but while I support the death penalty in certain cases, if you survive your execution, your sentence should be commuted to life. Playing Cluedo with my mum while I was at Uni: "You did WHAT? With WHO? WHERE???" Technically, she may now be a zombie. Gotta wonder if there’s case law on that. ![]() Boru

Absolutely barbaric.
Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former.

I can see that for some crimes death may be an appropriate punishment, but, what if you convict the wrong person? Mistakes do happen, if they are in jail they can be released and paid compensation, if they are dead they can't.
The meek shall inherit the Earth, the rest of us will fly to the stars.
Never underestimate the power of very stupid people in large groups Arguing with an engineer is like wrestling with a pig in mud ..... after a while you realise that the pig likes it! The big thing for me is that it is never moral for a State to do what is immoral for an individual to do. If I’m not allowed to take the life of a person who has wronged me, neither is the State. This is generally my viewpoint as well - though I will admit that I have no qualms with executing tyrants whatsoever, after a trial in accordance with rule of law, of course. |
