Fine, they're deluded. Should we give them drugs for that, force them into traditional gender affirming therapy, or put them in a bin? Maybe we can line naked people up in front of them while repeating "there are only boys and girls" and yanking on their sex organs while we do it? Maybe that would work? I guesss that could only be step one..because after we're done convincing them that they're deluded...they'll still feel the way they do.

One has to wonder, if we can construct one gender, or two genders, why not three or thirty? In fact, if we understood that gender concepts between places aren't and werent actually the same thing, we might realize that we've already constructed hundreds of boys...and girls...and others.

That's a great point. In an effort to cure them of this affliction we're going to have to have some measure of how much they mean it when they affirm whatever set of traditional norms we wish for them to adopt. We might have to come up with some misery or disgust bar - get them to do something that is very much part and parcel of boyness or girlness as we see it it, something that would cause them deep anguish, and force them to do it a certain number of times a day? Maybe all day, or just all the time in general?

No, wait, I've got it. What if we constructed our entire society in that manner, so that no matter where they were and no matter what they were doing, they would always be reminded of how wrong and how sick they are? Surely.....there would be no trans or non binary people left in all of creation...if we did that......

Obviously we can't allow that statement to go too far, to apply to the non binary. They must be dissuaded and made to understand that they are sick. It's a science fact.

Suppose it was voluntary and involved no anguish—is there something wrong with a person wanting to change their gender identity to match their sex?

We could open happy funtimes camps tomorrow and see who signs up, and what the consequences of that might be. It's worth a shot, anything to stop this illness from spreading.

Why do you have such antiquated views of clinical psychology? Do you think doctors still bleed people out to cure a fever?

It sounds to me as if you viewed gender identity as a sacred part of the mind, such that to undergo sex reassignment surgery is much more humane than attempt therapy. Don't you think people should at least be allowed that option?

I think it's interesting that if we decided any form of gender expression were a disorder, we would have another example of the difference between disorder and wellness being the commonly held opinions of our society at a particular point in time.

If we think that gay conversion therapy is a thing that works and that we should do, I see no reason why non binary conversion therapy wouldn't catch on.

Gender does match the sex 99 % of the time, so I can understand why people would want to use them interchangeably, but gender is a social construct. So in that sense, non-binary is not real I guess. Just a construct.

I'm cool with non-binary, but there is a point when some of them start to get so ridiculous that, as Joe Rogan puts it, it's basically "I identify as LOOK AT ME!" Saying your pronouns are pri/prin/prins/princeself and all of these new things is a bit much.

Some LGBT people don't accept that the non-binary are truly transgender, but by definition they are transgender. All that transgender means is that you are not the gender you were once seen as. The people who actually transition from MTF or FTM are called transsexuals.

What does sexual orientation mean? I don't know anymore. If we have a FTM and they date men, the FTM is very likely going to call themselves a gay man, which is completely fine with me, but it's not true if you go by the "official" definition of sexual orientation which means the sex you are attracted to. They did not change their sex by transitioning. They just changed their gender. Sexual orientation to me is no longer necessarily about which sex you are attracted to. It's seemingly becoming more like gender where at this point you can just be whatever sexual orientation you feel comfortable identifying as.

It is becoming more widely accepted in the trans community that you can change your sex, and I disagree with this. They are defining sex as what type of sexual body parts you have, but imo, you can not have a vagina if you were not born with one. You can only have an imitation of one. No disrespect meant by that.
