A picture of a statue

RE: A picture of a statue
Statues of Saint James whom Catholics lovingly call Saint James the Muslim Slaughterer and make long pilgrims to the statues of him slaughtering Muslims.

Like this one in the cathedral Santiago de Compostela

And this one in the Cathedral of Burgos.

And few other cathedrals.

No wonder many Christians consider him to be Jesus' brother.
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

Why?

There hasn't been a flying dirigible in almost 50 years.....

It'd be like having a hitching post in the McDonalds drive thru....

Why did they build a dirigible mooring mast when there haven't been dirigibles in 50 years? Maybe because the ESB was built 90 years ago, when people thought airships would be a thing. I believe it's used as a broadcast tower now.

The statue is almost always covered with kids climbing on the bronze behemoth. Alice is a creature of fable…we know that.

I’m wondering how the atheists here feel about statues…particularly of fabled creatures.

Please share, if you will, a picture of a favorite piece of sculpture…particularly of a fabled creature?

I want one of these in my back yard...less the people, of course.

The Little Mermaid in Copenhagen. It's so wistful. She's pining for the Fjords.

The only reason she's sitting on that rock is that she's been nailed there.

The Mermaid statue has been vandalized a few times. I think the latest was someone cut the head off.

I read somewhere that the head has been cut off that statue several times.
