Yup, this is right in my bailiwick.  Walked by that statue many times on visits to the Legislature for the New Year's levee.

There are a lot of very, very angry Canadians at the moment.  Approximately two-thirds of us want the Catholic church to face some real consequences for what happened in the residential schools.  It's not just statues getting toppled; over the past couple of weeks there have been multiple incidents of arson involving churches.

Damn, but we know how to party...

^Honestly I LOVE that Catholicism is getting some push back after so many centuries of them getting away with it. I wish CPS all over the world would ban relegious institutions from being responsible for minors.
