Marx' ideology made it so I can work in a bakery and not have to worry about money.......LOL I have won at life.

The key to understanding Marx, aside from having an IQ above 50, is that he saw how workers were being exploited by the newly developing industrialization of society and realized that wasn't much better than how peasants were treated by the aristocracy. In some cases the treatment was much worse. It wasn't true in every factory, but was widespread and was dependent upon how much each factory owner cared for the workers. There were some who did a pretty good job of taking care of people but of course this was the get-rich opportunity of the era so many of them capitalized as much as possible. All some people think of when you say Marx is Stalinist Russia or Castro's Cuba, both terrible examples and the point I was making with this thread despite the attempt of some people to drag it down to the same base argument. Sheese. The point he was making has nothing to do with whether Marxism as an economic system can work, and can it work in a free society. My opinion is no. I used to read the local Marxist/Lenonist propaganda newspapers strewn around campus. They were hilarious. Not sure I follow your intent, but if it was to point out that this thread was never intended to promote Marxism or argue that it was a good option, then you are correct. My point was to discuss what Marxism actually is versus what right wingers think it is.

My opinion is no.Of course, it can that was Marx's whole point. It only can't if you define freedom by Capitalist standards Quote:I used to read the local Marxist/Lenonist propaganda newspapers strewn around campus.
