Atheists in church
RE: Atheists in church
It never fails. Trying to correspond with this dipshit is a waste of typing. It's either a troll or he just likes fucking around with people.
Why is it so?

For sure.

Speaking of sex and sin, does anyone here remember purity culture? I think it may have faded out now but at one point it was a pretty strong element of evengelical churches.

As far as I know, it's still going on. It's gotten worse in the past few years in Mormonism, the standards at BYU getting more strict. And I'll occasionally watch atheist youtubers critique channels like Girl Defined and Paul and Morgan who all promote purity culture. They're nothing to sneeze at, these evangelical youtube channels, with lots of followers and still making content.

That's astonishing considering that the original proponent of PC has rescinded the entire philosophy.  Like most things in religion, once it becomes culture they won't give it up no matter how destructive it is.

Like Islam, culture seems to be the determinant rather than the articles which describe the religion. Thus the enmity toward gays from Christians despite the Bible advising the opposite.

Every church I've ever been to is much more complex than a chess club.

A church is just building with people inside that are playing fairytales.

That's certainly untrue.  As I said, every church (I should say most) is made up of a community of people who come together for more than just religious worship.  It's a complex mixture of culture, religion, community, relationships and more.  I know for a fact that there were non-believers who attended the same church I did (I've been to many over the years).  You appear to be applying your own experiences and biases and generalizing over all other churches.  This is almost always a mistake.  And regardless if we consider their beliefs to be fairytales (and I do), religious faith still has strong power to bring people together and to motivate people for good or bad purposes.  To say they are "just" playing fairytales is overly reductive.

You are being overelaborate. Life is much more basic than you think.

It's inappropriate in a way you wouldn't understand.

Marriage is pointless, means nothing. I can fuck who I want if I'm married or not, if they consent (of legal age obviously*). If you consider cheating after marrying immoral I can accept that you can form a valid argument for it. But you need to realise some relationships, even marriages, are "open" (some two sided open, some one sided). Cheating in a relationship isn't something I've done. I could see why someone could think it's not immoral though. But you are actually considering pre marital sex immoral (assuming consent granted), you're ridiculous! Don't you enjoy having fun?

Yes I do, but not at the cost of my peace of mind. Not all sex, not even all consensual sex, is good. You wouldn't just have anal sex, would you?
