False.  A lot of my people did go "a-viking" but not all of us.  Some were explorers (including Erik the Red and his son Leif Erikson - possibly distant relatives of mine).  Some stayed home and did the usual things - raising livestock, subsistence farming, baking, fishing, weaving).

One interesting hypothesis that I've heard, but which I've been unable to confirm, is that the Scandinavian people turned militant in retaliation for attacks by Christian invaders from the south.

And it's pretty fucking hypocritical for you to point at Scandinavia when the history of Islamic atrocities continues to the present day.  We got better.  What's your excuse?

There is no "you": you are not a viking; you are a "modern Canadian citizen"; big difference between the two.
The vikings were an ancient nation, while you belong to a modern nation with a totally different constitution and law of life.
That ancient nation doesn't represent you unless you embrace their ideals and live like them; i.e become them.

Of course I can point fingers at marauders in history like the Mongols and the Vikings, because by looking at their legacy and conclusion I can warn modern people who follow the same path.

The Vikings were not, in any sense, a ‘nation’. That’s a misconception enforced by terms like ‘the Viking Age’.

Vikings originated from several nations, which eventually became modern Sweden, Norway, Denmark, and (to a lesser extent) Germany. As has been explained, only those Scandinavian who went pillaging and raiding were Vikings. It was their impact that led to whole peoples being referred to by that term, which is why we read about ‘Viking traders’ and so on.

Like all cultures, the vast majority of Scandinavian people were tradespeople - farmers, smiths, weavers - and not warriors.

Whenever you rationalize inhumane punishments like cutting off hands for theft, that's exactly what you're doing.

They were a nation. Their land became separated and recognised nowadays only:

Quote:The Vikings originated in what is now Denmark, Norway and Sweden (although centuries before they became unified countries). Their homeland was overwhelmingly rural, with almost no towns. The vast majority earned a meagre living through agriculture, or along the coast, by fishing.

You misunderstood me; I'm actually "embracing the faith of Islam & taking the Quran to be my constitution", and no need to take the high moral horse by you in this discussion: Western countries practice severe cruelties to people, you are lucky to be born in Canada, others like me who were born elsewhere see the "actual religion" of the west, we are the sitting ducks that you blow your ammunitions on.

The "age of the Vikings" is still going on; but the neo-vikings learned new tactics and learned how to hide their "cruel expansions" better.

From the article he linked

Quote:the Vikings are often portrayed merely as one-dimensional warriors whose achievements include little more than plundering and raiding. But...
Quote:Yet, though they undeniably carried out very destructive and violent attacks, from small-scale raids against churches to major campaigns involving thousands of warriors, the Vikings formed part of a complex and often sophisticated Scandinavian culture.
Quote:The reputation of the Vikings simply as raiders and plunderers has long been established. Restoring their fame as traders, storytellers, explorers, missionaries, artists and rulers is long overdue…

Winterhold doesnt care to read the links he provides.  Hehe
He is blinder than blind.  The blind can not see. Winter does not want to see that which does not agree with his nutty, inhumane, barbarian beliefs.

Stop bullshitting.

You are the one advocating cutting hands off for minor offenses, and masturbates to the thought of torture and crucifixion for major ones. Civilized people dont do that, savages like you do, based on your immoral savage book.

Oh, and please stop that "poor me i am born in a worse part of the world than you (westerners). Thats pathetic, an utterly lame excuse for being such an immoral and cruel piece of shit who has no respect for his fellow human beings. No matter what you perceive has been done to you (and there has, in fact, nothing been done to you) justifies to be such a barbarian as you are.

You are responsible for your current state of mind, no one else. Grow some balls, like a viking who said "i loot because i want to loot".
You are such a whiny wimpy yet at the same time cruel piece of shit.

You should learn to read your own links: 'It was the first recorded raid by the Vikings, seaborne pirates from Scandinavia who would prey on coastal communities in north-western Europe for more than two centuries and create for themselves a reputation as fierce and pitiless warriors.'

Winter, your life is shit because you live in an islamic hellhole that doesn't consider you to be a full person. Nothing to do with vikings...or canadians, with their ammo blowing religion.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies.
