Having worked in retail half my life, I don't concern myself over small change or inconsequential purchase matters.

Bonus round:
Do you use "deal" sites to find the best price? Do you use deal sites looking for good buys on things you hadn't already planned to buy? Do you search coupon codes when making online purchases? Do you subscribe to any retailer's marketing emails? Do you use any browser shopping tools like Honey or CamelCamel? ![]() RE: How much is a dollar really worth?

Sounds like Florida to me. @Angrboda I have a story that sort of in the reverse. I once owned a near mint copy of The Incredible Hulk #181. For the non-comicbook fans, this book included the first appearance of Wolverine, who would go on to become an extremely popular character. I got the book in a bulk purchase so I paid maybe $1 for it in the late 80's. Around 1998 I decided to liquidate it and shopped it around local comic shops. At that time the going price was around $400 but no store would offer more than 50 or 60. This just made no sense to me. I eventually auctioned it online for about $250. Now, that book in that condition is worth more than $6000. What the hell was I thinking?
Why is it so?

Menards, Lowe's and Home Depot all email me whatever sale is going on. And all of the flower and gift basket retailers I've used email. I spend more time looking at ratings/options for items I want than deals.
Being told you're delusional does not necessarily mean you're mental.
I use the Kroger rewards. I don't spend a lot on gas but when I do fill up I usually have a pretty nice discount to use. I also use their digital coupons since I place my grocery order online.
I have used Honey quite sparingly as it doesn't seem to ever find much with regard to what I am purchasing. There are a couple companies I have been buying fabric from (and some other things) that sometimes offer free shipping via an email. That will often tip the scales toward a purchase if there is something I have been looking at but haven't pulled the trigger on yet. ![]() (September 23, 2021 at 8:23 am)Angrboda Wrote: Bonus round: I’m registered with a few retailers’ sites which send me coupon codes and inform me of sales. If these apply to something I’m looking for, I take advantage. For example, I just ordered some mild steel from a local-ish supplier and used their coupon code for 15% off AND free shipping. Boru

She can also find a deal on clothes...OMGosh. A couple years I would give her money and send her out to buy clothes for my son for Christmas because I knew she'd end up with two or three times as much as I would have. ![]() |
