Morbid has a different definition in the medical sense.
If the Oxford English Dictionary defines “morbid” as “an abnormal and unhealthy interest in disturbing and unpleasant subjects,” the diagnosis of morbid obesity might sound rather ghoulish and scary. What exactly does the doctor mean when they tell a patient that they have morbid obesity? Should they be offended?
The actual medical definition of morbid obesity is:
“A serious health condition that results from an abnormally high body mass that is diagnosed by having a body mass index (BMI) greater than 40 kg/m², a BMI of greater than 35 kg/m² with at least one serious obesity-related condition, or being more than 100 pounds over ideal body weight (IBW).”
Medical technology is a language unto itself. If you don't speak that language then it can be upsetting but that doesn't mean it's incorrect.
I was told while laying in the ICU that I had a 'widow maker' heart attack. It wasn't offensive to me, it was indicative of the severity.
If I speak with an engineer I expect to hear things I am not familiar with...I am pretty good with medical terminology having gone to school to be a medical assistant back in the day. Pretty much every industry has its own jargon.

The AMA suggests using different terms, therefore they think terms like morbidly obese are problematic, or they wouldn't be suggesting a change in terms. I wasn't claiming that the AMA was saying that saying morbidly obese is the same as saying the N word, and I reported that they were 'suggestions' as you point out, and you would know that if you read my posts. The document does not suggest to refer to individuals as 'people with morbid obesity' as you claim in your post. It says try using 'people with severe obesity'. This is bowing down to the anti-science fat acceptance movement by no longer referring to their health condition as 'morbid'.
Well, I see that you at least read the document this time. However, your reading comprehension is either completely in the toilet or is faulty due to ulterior motivations.
Of course intentionally ignorant would fit in nicely as a third option.
Edit-side note: Last night I thought about the article and how the guide will effect the medical professionals I know. My conclusion is not much. Most have to much on their plate already to be this concerned about patient feelings at the documents level. So, it turns out the the article IA posted and people like IA are simply stirring a basically empty pot.
The language police are infecting all of society bit by bit, so I don't see how it's stirring an empty pot. About 15 years ago, celebs and activists started putting out campaigns about how we should stop saying "that's gay". 15 years later, and now the activists are telling us that it's best to refer to bio males as "people who can get testicular cancer". If this nonsensical attempt to change pretty much all of our language doesn't bother you, then that's fine and to each his own, but a lot of people are going to call this nonsense out. The people involved in making and editing that AMA suggestion list are probably the type that would get micro-agressed to the moon by hearing someone say Columbus discovered America. Well, he did discover America. If anyone needs to get micro-agressed by hearing a doctor talk about their condition in a non-flattering way, maybe it's the people who are a couple years away from the grave because of how much they eat and don't exercise or move around. We shouldn't be sugar coating things, just like I wouldn't sugar coat them smoking three packs of smokes a day or being a crack addict, especially when you have the fat acceptance movement out there pushing propaganda about how it's not unhealthy to be obese. You have people like Tess Holiday who are put on the cover of magazines and presented as role models while they talk about being healthy at 400 pounds and how it's fat-phobic for someone who has lost weight to say that they improved themselves. This anti-science propaganda needs to be challenged.

What do you mean by 'with an issue'? I think it's bad to smoke 3 packs of cigarettes a day as well, but I always defend smokers and their right to do what they want with their bodies. The same goes for food and drugs. New York should not be banning sodas that are too large. All drugs should be legal. Have at it and have fun dying. I'm all for freedom. I literally want people to have the legal right to commit suicide.
When it comes to fat children sitting on their computers and hearing that you can be a healthy 500 pounder and that losing weight should not be called self improvement, are these children in turn going to be more likely to try to lose weight eventually and improve their health, or are they going to be less likely to want to improve their health?

Hasan Piker, Vaush (pretty much the two biggest socialist streamers) and TJ Kirk AKA The Amazing Atheist all banned within a few days of each other for very idiotic reasons. Who could have seen this coming?
