You understand it’s already happened there, right?

Where? In England yes. I am a news junky, so watching this story yesterday, all the networks pointed out this was not the first time a MP was murdered.
I was simply pointing out that here in America, the former guy's dangerous rhetoric is going to get some state or federal politician killed.

No, it’s happened in the US. Or are you going to sit there and tell me that no USian politician has ever been killed?

Quote:Actually - he did have access to deadlier weapons.
You can in fact buy a couple of liters of petrol - and glass bottles in England - all without a background check!
It's a highly impractical weapon a gun vastly more efficient (which is why people use them for killing)
Quote:True.
But Mr Amess is dead.
Shooting him again won' t make him any deader.
The whole " good thing it wasn' t a gun" is a red herring.
The possibility of collateral damage is far higher with a gun than with a knife." So no good thing it wasn't a gun" is the perfect response

To be fair, you are the first one to mention gun. When Boru stated
"Lots of other people might be dead. Muslims extremists don’t have a problem with taking out bystanders to get the target they’re after."
I assumed he meant explosives, while you automatically went to the gun. The majority of attacks, at least on US soil, by Muslim extremists have ironically been with explosives and not guns. Seems like you're attempting to manufactures a narrative.

It happened in England.
Explosives are fairly easy to manufacture. As I pointed out gasoline bombs would be very simple to obtain.
Firearms on the other hand would be less available - and as they were talking about him not having more lethal weapons I had to assume that' s what he meant.

Simple to get but impractical to use versus a gun

Also worth noting: knives have a range that's a Hell of a lot shorter than a gun. From what I can gather about the attack, Amess had just entered the church building and Ali Harba Ali emerged from a crowd and stabbed him.
If I may indulge in a little counterfactual history, There was potentially a chance (admittedly very limited) that someone could have intervened and stopped AHA and saved Amess' life. A shooter can actually be a lot stealthier. About a minute earlier, he was outside. Now, I looked at the site on Google Earth and, while the building opposite to it is a two-story council house, I suspect it's possible for some particularly aggrieved resident to turn his room into a sniper's nest and have nobody know anything's happening until the first shot is fired. Admittedly, it'd probably be easier if it were a public building with a higher window. And it can potentially be pulled off even if the sniper is a mediocre marksman with the cheapest rifle he can find. What makes me think such a scenario is possible? No reason, I admit.
My knowledge of knife combat is limited, I admit, but I strongly suspect that a scenario like this is impossible if the killer has a knife. Seriously, if it turns out that any similar attack to the scenario I just described can be pulled off successfully with a knife alone, I'll eat my own cock.
