True, Padriac. But it certainly wasn't as effectively applied as it could have been (One might note that there were still people not of Germany inside it's occupied territories). I agree with the ideal up to the point of the people being considered 'superior'. That said, I'll take Silicoid citizens over <insert species here> every day. Doesn't apply to any variety of the human populace however, hence why i don't agree with that facet of the idea.

Because it is so hard to carpet bomb/haze an area? It's really not. It's discriminate killing that is hard to manage. The more effective the weapons: the easier it is to exterminate the pests. Get rid of as many as you can before they evolve a tolerance to your favorite brand of pesticide.

Even back in WWII when carpet bombing was thing all the cool countries were doing even with thousand bomber raids and the levelling of entire cities there was never any chance of the populations of any of the countries involved having their populations wiped out. Most airforces these days do not have one thousand bombers.

If you're going to bomb something: use modern day bombs. Potatoes don't explode. Unless you put them in a microwave. Nukes tend to work well enough. Also, try an assorted variety of bombs (gas/chem/bio/whatever). If you'd like to throw a single potato into each batch, be my guest. I seriously doubt anyone is going to be left to eat its ashes.

Nukes are a bad idea, sure you've depopulated the land, but now it's irradiated and you can't get at the resources. Chem is the same story, long term contamination is bad. Bio might work, but if your virus mutates, or it spreads beyond your desired area of effect then you have a serious problem. genocide is extremely difficult and simply not worth the time and effort. You're going to put more resources into killing these people than you're going to get when it's over.

Well thought out point. It all comes down to cost then, and while it might be a great answer at some times: it is a dreadfully inefficient in others.
