Right now, my PC is unable to install Windows 11, it lacks a facility. Setting up my PC to enable this facility ('TM') is complex so I'm in a pickle. I'm fond of the aphorism "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" . I like Windows 10 just fine.
Be most interested to learn about people's experiences with Windows 11.
I don't trust Windows. In my 30 years of using that product, it seems every other version sucks. Vista was the biggest clusterfuck so far.
Me neither. Used computers at work from 1982. First PC was a pentium2 with windows 98 which I loved. Bought in '99. Hated XP at first, but once I got used to it I loved it.
Last Windows version I used was Windows 8. Liked it a lot. Then I bought an iMac.
True enough every new windows version has had bugs. 11 seems to have too many for me from what I can gather.
I loathe Apple as a company . Every new series had bugs. I always ended up losing something. Mostly I loathe them for their price gouging and appalling customer service. Haven't contacted them for several years. Every time I contacted them, the alleged technician never once tried to actually fix the problem. Instead tried to sell me upgrades. On one occasion one bloke even claimed my processor is inadequate. (it ain't)
Why buy an Imac? Because I thought they were elegant. (first all in one I saw was an Imac) As it turns out, the Imac is actually a very good computer. I actually like the MAC OS a lot more than Windows.. Seems a lot more intuitive to me
Will I ever buy another Mac? Absolutely not. Do I recommend iMac? Not really, the price is about double what is should be imo. But if you have plenty of money, why not.
Bought my basic iMac (21.5 inch screen) in early 2016. It was $1600. This was an independent retailer. They threw in the magic mouse and keyboard, which are also elegant.
Had a local chain, MSY built this PC to my specs. Perhaps a little better processor than I need.:
Basic mother board and graphic card. I'm not a gamer.
8GB of RAM. Processor Intel i5 , 8 core. Storage 1TB SSD, no HDD. Storage drive is partitioned so C:/ only uses a small part. 32 inch Viewsonic monitor. Windows 10. Total cost $1600
Yeah, still have the iMac and an el cheapo Lenovo laptop on which I run Linux mint

My PC is about 5 years old and works fine, no reason to update it, looking at the information I don't see what wyndoze 11 gives me that win 10 hasn't got, the changes seem to be either minor cosmetic things or stuff I would never use anyway.

OS versions are really no different than magazine or newspaper subscriptions. They change things to get you to update.

It prompted me to upgrade to 11 during the setup process so I did. So far no issues, and it isn't so different that I had problems figuring anything out. My only complaint so far is I was running Office 2013 on the old one and decided to go ahead and make the jump to the subscription version of Office 365 so I'd be using the same thing I use at work. When I did that my old copy of Visio, which I like to use for playing around with floorplans, wouldn't work any more so I had to upgrade that pricy piece of software too. But that isn't a Windows 11 issue it is an Office issue.
Visio is my concern as well. I have it on my old laptop, but can't find the CD or the key so that I can install it on my new machine. I have Visio Professional, and really don't want to hork up that kind of coin again.

I'm not going to update unless they force me. Windows 10 is just fine for what I need from my laptop.

My computer doesn't have a TPM, but it's got some alternate thing in BIOS which supposedly satisfies the requirement. But, again, it needs a UEFI boot. I've got over a terabyte of games installed with Steam. I think that I can back those up and restore them to a new os install, but I haven't tested it. I wouldn't want to have to download those games again with my 1 TB monthly download cap.
I have previously done exactly what you suggest for one of my boys. Back up Steam folder, rebuild PC, restore steam folder - point newly installed Steam client to restored folder. Everything magically works again - no downloads required.
Also, I'm sure you don't play all 1 Terabyte worth of games at the same time?
I'm on the fence. Right now, no, and the warning that my 3 year old high specced gaming machine (at the time) doesn't meet Windows 11 requirements just sucks. I have read that there are ways to get around those, but still, the ominous warning that I may be stranded without support or regular OS updates because Microsoft seems to have adopted a planned obsolescence approach like Apple, sucks. At the very least they should have brought out two flavours of LTS versions - one to support older HW without some of the newer features, and one cutting edge.
I guess greed wins. Would love to see the $$$$ backhanders from OC manufacturers in this gig.
Every second OS MS brings out seems to suck monkey balls, so at this point I am gonna wait and see.
I have 3 PCs in my house, all of which are more than capable of playing the latest 3D games, but none of them meet the hardware requirements of the new OS - I mean really - WTF Microsoft?

So I ran the compatibility tool and all is good except...
An intel Core i7-6700HQ processor isn't supported? Uh, WTF?
