I began transitioning nearly 5 years ago. Went to my doctor (whom I have seen for over two decades) today for my annual physical. For the first time, he mentioned the term "transgender" and asked me if I was on hormones.
I'm confused, maybe things are different in your medical system, but why would your doctor not know what drugs you are on?

I have looked (at least somewhat) like a woman now for over four years, and my doctor has just ignored that fact for the last several years even as he has pushed my long hair back to look into my ears, tapped my fully shaven legs, etc. I found his comments to be amusing and was surprised when he asked, and so, decided to share that here. Perhaps healthcare for transgender individuals is changing?

Am I alone in thinking that transsexualism fundamentally reinforces "carcinogenic/old fashioned" and wrong sexist gender role stereotypes i.e. men are/feel/do like ABC and women are/feel/do like DEF?
