I wish I had a picture of it. In the mid 80s I was living near Ft. Huachuca, AZ in a small condo complex. One of the units was inhabited by two young male lieutenants who were stationed at the base. Because the layout of the complex was in the shape of a U, we often ended up with tumbleweeds that made their way in but not back out. The Lts. stuck a stick in the ground in the corner near their door, dropped a couple tumbleweeds onto the stake, and then strung them with lights. Both funny and festive.

I googled tumbleweed christmas tree and apparently it's big deal and yearly event in Chandler AZ.

Maybe that should have gone in the what do you know today thread.

Theirs was much less fancy! It was two or three tumbleweeds on a stick...with a little imagination they probably could have made it look like a snowman.

...or they could have just set those weeds on fire. Of all the things to be allergic to, that's one of mine.  Hmph

And also, watch out for correct pronouns during the holidays

teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

RE: Yule, Christmas & other holidays
Apparently Yule dinner this year is going to be deviled eggs, Chinese curried beef puffs, pork souvlaki and possibly Crab Rangoon.

With mead, of course.  Gotta keep up those Old Norse traditions.  Big Grin

For $2.80, I'd want mine to at least be anatomically correct!
Disappointing theists since 1968!
