I may have posted this one before. But since motherfuckers are shooting people all over the place, maybe it ought to be posted again. We live in a violent society. Everybody gets all bothered when there is a mass shooting at Walmart, but nobody seems to think that "shooting a bunch of people" is in itself simply wrong. It's like, the only reason that Walmart shootings are vile is because they aren't "socially approved." Shooting people to death is wrong. THAT is why the Walmart shootings are fucked up. It's not because these mass shootings went down "without authorization." It's because violence is intrinsically wrong. If we are going to be a society of vile murderers who throw foreigners into cages and drop bombs on our enemies to hold our place on the world stage... if we behave like that on a macro scale... why are we so surprised that people (on a micro scale) just open fire in public places? I'm not surprised. I just want it to end. And I want an end to all violence. Not just this violence or that violence. But anyway... you may say I'm a dreamer. But I'm not the only one.
Had the intro to this song in my head since I heard it in Wisconsin a few weeks ago. Didn't take the time to check my iPhone to make sure of which song it was, but I decided to audit my MP3 collection to see who it could be. Somehow, I narrowed it down to albums I listened to in Wisconsin and that it was most likely a Sixties or Seventies soul song. And so, I decided to play Sam and Dave at the store today, and I finally found out it was this:
Somehow, despite Steve Cropper's stature as a guitarist, NOBODY seems to have been inspired to tab out this song online. Or were those plaintive plinks from a piano played by Booker T. Jones?
