One of Nuno Bettencourt's after Extreme efforts. Mourning Widows: "Furnished Souls for Rent"
Nothing groundbreaking, but there are some highlights. A new (at the time) band trying to find it's direction. It'll get into the rotation, but not in heavy rotation. Nuno's damned good, but the rest of the band needed work.
If Van Halen wanted to reform around Alex, Wolfgang and Dave, They could do worse than to bring on Nuno. Stylistically he's a lot like Eddie. Not as good, but outside of Joe Satriani, Eric Johnson and a very few others, who is?

Nuno is great. I'm a fan, but I can name a few to stand in for Eddie. Although, I wouldn't wish Dave on any of them.
This video is more about Portnoy living out his Peart fantasy, but that's okay too.

Here's the reason Iike Nuno for VH, if they ever did reform (salient point starting at 2:05):
There are better guitarists than Nuno, but few that really make me think about Eddies talents when I'm listening. Nuno referenced that classic Eddie sound for his own work.

Honestly, I wish Gary Cherone had been given more of a chance. Yes, VH III sucked*, but I think it was more a result of rushing into the studio with a new front man. They should have taken some time, done a few shows, and worked Gary into the band first. I really think a second album would have been far better than VH III, and probably better than what they produced years later, mostly from material written for earlier Dave era albums.
*As a Van Halen album. Strip the name and expectations and it's not really that bad.
Staying on topic...
After finding out that "Detroit Stories" is not an Alice Cooper live album, I'm checking it out.
