Might be the complete lack of any left wing movement. I mean, I love brewer...for example...but "far left bias" in the us usually means you don't think poor people should starve within sight of a federal building. It's difficult to figure out what separates a moderate republican from any random dem. That helped trumpism coopt republicanism, as the brands had very little to differentiate themselves beyond culture war.

Just take a look at the responses to 9/11 or any crime committed by undocumented immigrants. If an undocumented immigrant murders someone, Republicans are duty bound to blame border security on said measure within 5 minutes of the person's death. And in the case of 9/11, well you could basically complete any republican sentence for years with a noun, a verb, and 911. But if you mention that maybe we should have some gun laws, suddenly we need to 'let the bodies get cold' before we talk about that.
