What would be wonderful about having a bunch of god botherers in charge, and how would they treat atheists and other rational thinkers?
Well, it's not like being an atheist automatically makes you a rational thinker, but I digress. Atheists would be like the homeless people of today, they wouldn't be allowed full access to the utopian society.

and you think that's a good thing?

I don't believe in gods, if a theocracy was in power is still wouldn't, maybe if they made things difficult enough I might say I believed in their fairy story just to make my life easier, but the truth would be that I still wouldn't believe. So all a theocracy would do is force me to lie.

That would be great for anyone with differing religious beliefs. This coming the day after having the oppressive nature of theocracies explained to you simply reinforces the suspicion that you're making stupid and provocative statements like this to get a reaction. That makes you a troll. But that is secondary to the root cause of your trolling, which is that you are an attention whore. This is why you don't care whether your ideas are logical or not, because the most important thing to you is not whether they are true or not, but how effective they are in getting you the attention you crave. Any attention good or bad is viewed as a positive by you.

Logic is not the be all end all of human advancement. It doesn't matter if something is logical or not, it only matters that it works or not. That's why religion has been so successful for so long, its tenants are not based in logic but it still works very well for what it is.

This is how conmen think. It doesn't matter how much you lie. The only thing that matters is that it's successful. You can prey upon the gullible and all is good, as long as you get what you want.

Religion has successfully lied to people for a very very long time.

Just so we're clear, I don't believe in any kind of afterlife, or the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, but I still went through the motions of Catholicism for personal reasons that transcend the petty master/slave dynamic of organized religion. I was never truly "one" with the rest of the congregation, because I knew Catholicism wasn't the absolute truth, but only a version of the truth. Still, I got out of it what I needed to get out of it, and when I felt like there was nothing more to be gained, I left. Simple as that. My parents still love and support me, and I still have a good life. I wasn't fleeced by any priest, or any other kind of motivational speaker, for that matter. I've always been my own person, with or without religion. If there are people who are controlled by religion, that's on them. Deep down inside, they want to be controlled. You can't blame religion (or motivational speakers) for controlling people when some people already want to be controlled. There's a sucker born every minute.

That's just it.

If the evangelicals and dominionists in the US got their way, it would leads to an Islamic State/Teliban-type regime but with their version of "christian values".

Women would once again be basically property.
Education/science a thing of the past.
"Dissidents" (read: non-believers, wrong thinkers, and anyone who didn't agree with the regime) would be jailed or worse.
And there would likely be a massive war in the ME as the regime gets Israel to fight wars.  After all, the main reason evangelicals support Israel is that they see this as a way of forcing the "end times" on everyone.

And, with 10,000+ denominations of christianity in the world, the likelihood of your version being in charge is remote.

And that would make you one of the dissidents.

I'd fight such a thing tooth and nail, and I suggest you do the same.

If he really is gay, as he says.  He would most certainly be burned at the stake.

So, you would say that for all of the 918 people who died in Jonestown, it was just their fault for falling for his indoctrination?

You seem to be equally indoctrinated by Trump.  Will you drink his koolaid?

Late 18th century Britain was a theocracy?

Britain was always a theocracy.  It slowly emerged from that over time until it became what is today, yet there is still an officially recognized religion.

There's nothing un-American about forming a theocracy. "Freedom of religion" CAN mean "freedom to form a theocracy"

100% wrong!  Separation of government and religion is built into the Constitution.  The founding fathers were specific about this because of the vast atrocities of Europe related to religion with or without democracy.  You really know nothing about history, do you?

No

zebo said before that:

Quote:I don't believe in gods, if a theocracy was in power is still wouldn't, maybe if they made things difficult enough I might say I believed in their fairy story just to make my life easier, but the truth would be that I still wouldn't believe. So all a theocracy would do is force me to lie.

So, @Ahriman This is another stupid diversion.  Zebo tells you how you can't make people believe in something (religion in this case) and you just blow it off as unimportant.  When, just a few pages back, you stated that "you can't make people care" about something, as a reason to ignore race issues.  How is that any different?  Your hypocrisy is something to behold.  In case you don't know what hypocrisy is, it is when you make a claim or statement about something to deflect an idea, but then you make some claim and someone else makes a similar statement (really the same argument you make), you dismiss it.  Among all of your other vast flaws, you are also a hypocrite.

Hannah Arendt was talking about people like you.
Why is it so?
