****SPOILER ALERT****
Story wise Origins is better, the only problem in DA2 is the plot is too divided and it's hard to make a sense of how things get where they get n the end. There's this moment that Flemeth in all her glorious dragon form appears and you'd think wow that is gonna be awesome, but suddenly there's no trace of her -- not even name -- after you turn in her quest.
The tension between Circle of Magi and The Templar Order was the main plot but it wasn't developed well. I mean in the end it got better but at many points it got to unnecessary places. Like the time Orsino lose it. Overall I liked the fast paced gameplay better cause frankly I'm too old for hardcore cRPG gameplay, it needs a lot of hard work and takes too much time. But story wise and character wise I loved Origins better. In DA:II I only liked Varric while in Origins I loved Almost everyone of my companions, except that assassin elf which I always killed him. However, I liked the adversaries better in DA:II like the Arishok and Kight-Commander Meredith (Loved her voice over a lot, marvelous).
DA:II was too weathered down for my taste, I liked the camping experience and companion interactions in Origins hell a lot better. The Lelliana's Song was just an epic experience and second to none.

I thought the characters were better in II, aisde from Morigan and Alistair. Varic, Fenris, Anders II, Isabella and Merill were great, Sebastian, Carver, Aveline and Bethany were sorta shit, but so was Ogrin, Sten and Zevran in the first one.
Hawke being voiced was better.
Combat was much much better.
The story did feel way too undefined., that was my major gripe. I also disliked the lack of weapon and armor customization. Having the armor set for each of the 3 chapters pretty much meant that half of the armor you obtained was worse than what you had... Then again if you did the Dalish quest in DA: O and got the Legion armor first that was the same case. The lack of an Arcan Warrior / Battle Mage sucked too.
The family element was good, especially when Leandra died, I was actually somewhat angry and tempted to load a saved game to do things differently and try and save her.
Leliana's song was average IMO, and Witch Hunt absolutely sucked. Awakenings was awesome.
Flemmeth is personally too far ahead of the game to be involved here, we'll see her and her significance soon. I'm thinking SHE is Andrasde... As in she was not the makers chosen but a powerful mage (suggested in the book you find in Orzamar in DA: O)
Anyway, I'm excited about having my Mage warden and Warrior Hawke team up in DA3... Should get Leliana and Morigan back too, if only I had Fenris and Isabella I'd have my main team. Hopefully King Alistair is playable too.

Yeah I agree with most of what you said but..
Leliana's song wasn't average, especially the first time IMO.
I'm not sure about that, Flemeth being Anderaste as we have visited her sanctuary and retrieved a small punch of her ashes, but it's hard to make any assumptions on that.
Witch Hunt was shit, haven't played the Leliana's DLC and I agree Awakening was great.
I have a Rogue warden and a Warrior Hawke, it's my main save. Also doing a Mage Warden and haven't decided between a female mage Hawke or Female Rogue Hawke yet.
I like Alistar a lot and hope we can have him on-board again.

Sure, and we already killed Flemeth once too, I hardly think ashes are any obstacle. I just think given the Templar/Mages split it would be great if Andraste was a powerful mage, and we Know flemeth is going to have a big role later on. Plus there was that great dragon right outside Andraste's ashes which looked identical to Flemeth's dragon form.
Rogue Hawke was boring, not enough offensive powers, perhaps 4 in total... fucking lame, I found myself buying tons of bombs to compensate for it.. Mage Hawke was cool though.
Leliana's song was the Leliana DLC, unless there is one i've missed?

Nope, haven't played DA2 yet. I'm not that really interested in playing it mainly because I've heard that the character you use and companions changed, and the social feature isn't as great as Origins. Guess I'm just an Alistar/Morrigan fan. But, one day my mind might change and I'll play it.
Swooping is bad.
Only thing Alistair ever said that I loved him for. Only romanced him because I'm a flirtatious whore :X
On the other hand: I really love Morrigan and especially her mother I want to see moar FLEMETH!!! ^_^
And yes, Void... you'll probably get to
kill her next time.
I think you'll like Isabella and Verric. I happen to like Anders as well. I would like the elf, but she's way (way way way way way) too innocent for me. The paladin is way too uptight for my tastes, though I can respect her at least (other than when she's trying to romance someone...lol, that was pitiful). I do like Fenris when he isn't being a bigot. Dislike Carver because he's an asshole. Dislike Bethany because she's self-entitled and a worrywart.
@Jax - Don't worry about new Character, In Dragon Age 3 your characters from 1 and 2 team up In 2 there are 2 characters you can play from the first one (Even though one was a minor role in the dalish origins) and most of them are seen in the game (exception of Morrigan, Oghren and Sten).
Haha best Alistair line.
Aveline a Paladin? Like fuck she was!
FLEMETH WILL BE TROUBLE! You're going to have to kill her too.

*Runs off to find DA2.*
Oh, and I was playing Origins today, sad thing though, I've never finished it after all these years. I'm determined to finish it now (I kinda forgot how to play it. ). Alistair said something stupid to Morrigan as usual. I can't really remember the exact line but it was something like this.
Alistair: Hey I got an academic question which you might not be able to answer!
Morrigan: Oh, mind to tell me?
Alistair: What was Andraste's wife's name?
Morrigan: ...That's a religious question...
Oh Alistair, Origins would be so boring without him.

I actually did reload. Three times. You can't save her

Yes, i greatly missed a number of the scrapped abilities/trees. Blood mage was also implemented somewhat poorly (it needs a better leech, else why would it be a blood mage? :S), i still made it through hard, but it was a bitch.
And you are absolutely right about the story. I liked the sandbox feel, but unlike in DA: O: there is zero drive to follow a story to the end.
Void Wrote:Leliana's song was average IMO, and Witch Hunt absolutely sucked. Awakenings was awesome.
I actually didn't care for Awakening much. Reintroducing Ogren (of all characters... Ogren? Eeew)... and I was really really hoping that the blood magi friend of mine from the mage origin would be a possible character The story seemed pretty slow in the beginning as well, though from what I hear it becomes much better as you find out about the Architect and whatnot.

I read that book, and indeed i like the idea of that being flemeth... but I somehow doubt it. If it *IS* indeed what Bioware intends to do with her, i might sing out of intellectual bliss. Hopefully the next dragon age will have an encompassing story to go along with it >_> I greatly anticipate the return of Morrigan and her baby, understanding just what happened to the champion and the warden (assuming you didn't kill the warden off yourself), and of course I can't wait to see Flemeth's utter annihilation of the Tevinter Imperium because mages are tasty

My favorite combination would be having my spirit healing mage formerly of the circle and my apostate blood mage team up with a returning Morigan, Varric, Isabella, and I want to see more blood mages that are not portrayed as morons or psychotic >_< Seriously... the 'temptation! Oh noes!' line is fucking weak. The demon cannot provide such things as I desire... the deals I accept are the ones where we both get ahead at little disservice to me, with things they actually can provide (energy). At least the demon possessing Connor in DA: O gave a reasonable deal (teach me blood magic and I let her keep connor? Deal.).

And just what would be magical about someone's ashes? You've burned away all of the useful bits... all that's left is: ash. Those ashes might well be imbued with magic, of course. Honestly, I am one to think that the earl got better on his own accord very quickly after I saved connor and him from a demon. Sacred ashes my left ankle: magical ashes I would believe.

He was somewhat amusing, I agree... though he could get way too butthurt if I joke about something he said. Romance with him is such a pain -_-

Except you can kill it, and it's incredibly powerful and will very likely kick your ass at least twice. Or did she split herself into ANOTHER piece? 0.o Just how powerful *IS* Flemeth? 0.o
I would love for the next installment to center around a Flemeth who is really Andraste ("I am also a very old woman") >_> And just why is she called Asha'Bellinar by the dalish? Maybe I'm a conspiracy theorist, but even if Flemeth is not Andraste: she is still the most impressive being I've seen in any of the games.
Quote:Aveline a Paladin? Like fuck she was!
I use Paladin to describe a certain type of defensive role (has a shield, reduced incoming damage, self-righteous attitude, won't let me have sex with them ). Aveline fits that roll, though I agree to an extent that she isn't really a paladin

I know... and this saddens me, because I want her to be an epic adventure across the rest of the world as she sets all of the nations into massive war amidst the chaos of the breaking circles of magi.
I actually like Zevran... but I suppose thats because he's a bit of a kindred spirit to me (as with Isabella, Verric, Sarcastic/joking Hawk). Qunari are freaking stupid and I am restrained from killing all of them only by the fact that there are a lot more of them than there are me. Leilana I really liked when she wasn't being religious.
Such a shame that Duncan died in the first game. He was awesome as a character in the little time I had knowing him

I seriously tried my best to not read these spoilers...
But I still read the first statement.
Dammit! Why must I keep spoiling things for myself!
