The rise of the nutcases IS the evidence. In the case of MTG, she won election with over 70% of votes cast, and won her primary by double digits. Lauren Boebert did much the same. Both are favoured to be re-elected.

It's not a big feat for a republican to win a solid republican district, no matter how dumb or nutty they are. In such a district, the majority of voters regard being a Democrat as far worse than being stupid or crazy.

Agreed, but USian conservatives - in any district - seem to be more comfortable that ever casting their votes for avowed Christofascists.
