There’s actually a professional rule in psychology called The Goldwater Rule. In 1964, Fact magazine polled 12,356 psychologists to ask whether or not they thought Republican presidential nominee Barry Goldwater was psychologically fit for office. 1800 responded, and 1189 said “no” and then Fact went as far as putting it on the cover of one of their magazines.

Crucially, none of those 1189 (that I know of) had even met Goldwater. So, it’s likely that many of them were interpreting their own political biases through a psychiatric lens.

Eventually, the fallout from this article led to the APA to codify it into their ethical code.

Spring Hill Republican Senator Blaise Ingoglia has filed SB 1248, which would be called "The Ultimate Cancel Act."

While it does not mention the Democratic party's name, it would direct the Florida Division of Elections to "immediately cancel the filings of a political party, to include its registration and approved status as a political party, if the party’s platform has previously advocated for, or been in support of, slavery or involuntary servitude."

Southern Democrats advocated for slavery during the Civil War.

"For years now, leftist activists have been trying to "cancel" people and companies for things they have said or done in the past. This includes the removal of statues and memorials, and the renaming of buildings. Using this standard, it would be hypocritical not to cancel the Democrat Party itself for the same reason," explained Sen. Ingoglia.

Talk about an in-kind donation..... Why should central florida (and...can...central florida) subsidize the costs of one mans national ambitions? If desantis insists that disney will no longer be allowed to foot this bill - then fine. He should hand florida his own fucking wallet, no?

Given that they own a sizable chunk of the state and have done so for almost 60 years, I think that’s easier said than done.
