The Absurd GOP

Three years later, some Florida school districts are shying away from Shakespeare, along with other classic and popular materials. They say they’re attempting to comply with new state law restricting books with and instruction about sexual content.

Hillsborough County became the latest to take this step, telling teachers they could assign excerpts of plays such as “Romeo and Juliet,” but not the full text.

“I think the rest of the nation — no, the world, is laughing us,” Gaither High teacher Joseph Cool said after learning of the directive. “Taking Shakespeare in its entirety out because the relationship between Romeo and Juliet is somehow exploiting minors is just absurd.”

I'm not surprised the only culture these lunatics have any respect for is symbols and monuments to oppressing minorities.

It’s perfectly acceptable to hate John Milton. It’s even to okay hate Shakespeare and Morrison. But hating them doesn’t justify not letting other people read them.

Desantis Removes Another Democratic Elected Prosecutor

Desantis removed Orlando-area State Attorney Monique Worrell from her position as the chief prosecutor for the heavily populated central Florida region. He claimed that he was doing so because she was soft on crime.

The way our Republic normally works is if a community is dissatisfied with the job an elected official is doing, they vote them out of office. But that isn't the way things work in the autocracy of Desantisan. Worrell was elected in a landslide with 67% of the vote.

This move follows the removal of Tampa State Attorney Andrew Warren last year, also a Democrat. Desantis removed Warren after he stated publicly that he could not envision his office prosecuting women simply for getting an early-term abortion.

Desantis has also sought to systematically reduce the number of black elected officials in Florida, specifically targeting the removal of majority black congressional districts in his gerrymandered map he forced down the throat of his cowed legislature. Now he removes another black elected official from office at the stroke of a pen.

Congressman Maxwell Frost issued a strong statement in response to the removal of Worrell, stating that the move was "unconstitutional" and "we will not stand for this blatant abuse of power and fascism in our state."

teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

And FL is stuck with Desantis until 2026, when he hits his term limit as governor.
I'm not anti-Christian. I'm anti-stupid.

The same Republican state house that changed the rules to let him run for President while Governor will change the rules in 2026 to make him governor for life.

Quote:Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas has taken dozens of trips paid for by at least four billionaire friends during his time on the bench, a new report from ProPublica found.

The report expands upon ProPublica’s previous investigation into Thomas’s relationship with Harlan Crow, a GOP megadonor who gifted the justice with vacations, flights and even paid for his mother’s house in Georgia.

ProPublica’s newest story sheds additional light on the two men’s friendship and details trips Thomas purportedly accepted from three other billionaires: former Berkshire Hathaway executive David Sokol, oil businessman Paul “Tony” Novelly and H. Wayne Huizenga, who helped expand Blockbuster.

The report detailed how Thomas’s friends footed the bills for at least 38 destination vacations, 26 private jet flights and eight helicopter flights. Besides travel costs, billionaires paid for 12 VIP passes to sporting events, two resort stays in Florida and Jamaica and one “standing invitation to an uber-exclusive golf club” on the Atlantic coast, according to the report. Some of the trips were previously known.

Sokol and Novelly’s companies did not immediately return requests for comment. Huizenga is deceased.

Ken Paxton, the breathtakingly corrupt Texas Attorney General, has been impeached by the Texas House of Representatives and awaits trial in the Senate. This trial will be presided over by Dan Patrick, the Lieutenant Governor and president of the Texas Senate. As presiding officer, Patrick has wide authority to rule on what witnesses will be allowed to speak, what evidence against Paxton will be permitted, etc.

Patrick recently received $3 000 000 from Ken Paxton's PAC. All legit and above board.  Jerkoff
