The Absurd GOP
RE: The Absurd GOP
Republican senator and Trump's VP contender, Katie Britt, announces a plan to create a database of pregnant women so that Trump can monitor and prosecute women who have abortions.

teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

Once, they put their hopes in Donald Trump. Now they’re looking to Putin. ‘I often say it feels like our positive vision of 1950s America.’

It was probably January 2023 when Joseph Rose, a 49-year-old YouTuber from Tallahassee, Florida, realized God had sent him to Moscow.

“I do think it was God leading me to where I needed to be right now,” Rose told me over the phone. He was in his apartment, with recessed lighting and a sauna and an odd pirate theme, outside the center of the Russian capital. “I would say that Russia is becoming a bastion of Christianity and that America is becoming the opposite of this.”

I spoke to twenty American expats, all men, who have moved to Russia over the past four years. They told me they moved to Moscow or St. Petersburg or the wild east—Siberia—because they no longer believed the one person they once thought could save America—Donald Trump—could still save it. America, they felt, was beyond saving now.

Every single one of them will die in a Ukrainian trench, quite probably in a punishment battalion.

How's that for small government?

The following is more how I feel rather than I perceive as truth...

You know, I realize there are many women who are republican, but this woman is, one of a number of others, to me, seems like she is taking part in suppressing not just other women, but members of her own gender, especially with women's rights and trying to prevent women from having those rights. It also feels that she is one of those who was "brainwashed", for a lack of a better word, by men with one of the reasons why being that those men could have more control over women like her, and use her against those of her own gender.

And that is not only counting what government beliefs have to do with this. That said, it probably also has to do with religion, such as Christianity.

Whatever the case really is, and whatever her beliefs about abortion really come from, I would say it is quite sad.

EDIT: My bad, I meant to quote Fake Messiah on this, not Thumpalumpacus. Still, what I quoted did have Fake Messiah's post in it, and I am not against the other person, Thumpalumpacus responding too.

Quote:South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem is now banned from entering nearly 20% of her state after two more tribes banished her this week over comments she made earlier this year about tribal leaders benefitting from drug cartels.

The latest developments in the ongoing tribal dispute come on the heels of the backlash Noem faced for writing about killing a hunting dog that misbehaved in her latest book. It is not clear how these controversies will affect her chances to become Donald Trump’s running mate because it is hard to predict what the former president will do.

The Yankton Sioux Tribe voted Friday to ban Noem from their land in southeastern South Dakota just a few days after the Sisseton-Wahpeton Ovate tribe took the same action. The Oglala, Rosebud, Cheyenne River and Standing Rock Sioux tribes had already taken action to keep her off their reservations. Three other tribes haven’t yet banned her.

Noem reinforced the divisions between the tribes and the rest of the state in March when she said publicly that tribal leaders were catering to drug cartels on their reservations while neglecting the needs of children and the poor.

“We’ve got some tribal leaders that I believe are personally benefiting from the cartels being there, and that’s why they attack me every day,” Noem said at a forum. “But I’m going to fight for the people who actually live in those situations, who call me and text me every day and say, ’Please, dear governor, please come help us in Pine Ridge. We are scared.’ ”

In related news, Donald Trump has narrowed his field of VP hopefuls to those Republicans who didn’t shoot a dog and then brag about it.
