Earth's recent climate spiral.

I could never live without my cats, and their constant, self-serving manipulation of me and my wallet.

They get super affectionate when you give them fresh food. After they're done dispelling any notion of their being "tame" or "yours" or "pets", ofc.

They're cold blooded killers farming you like an ant farms an aphid. Wink
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. Husband and I often marvel at well-trained we are. In different ways by the dogs, the cat, and the parrots.

When it gets to the point where one of the dogs gets huffy if you are up past bedtime, you know for a fact just who is in charge.

That's the problem -- few people are taking our World's very grave climate situation seriously. I have no idea how one "recycles" a pet, other than burial, which, in my opinion, is the most dignified and environmentally friendly solution.

The meek shall inherit the Earth, the rest of us will fly to the stars.

Never underestimate the power of very stupid people in large groups

That's gross, and again, no one is taking this thread seriously. I hope that everyone watches the video in the OP. Our climate situation is sliding into an unmitigated disaster. Democracy has been absolutely wonderful in terms of individual human rights and justice, but capitalistic consumerism is turning into an environmental night terror.

I think what we're seeing is a failure of capitalistic consumerism. I'd attribute this all to corporate fiefdoms.

If people wanted green products as much as our captive state wants exotic financial derivatives, we'd be living in utopia. In the end...that we consume isn't the problem. That's life. What we consume and how we produce it, are what matters. It could conceivably be the case that rampant consumption is beneficial to our environmental situation - and that, I think, is a failure of the environmental movement to successfully brand itself.

Fossil fuels are cheap. A liter of gasoline has 31.536 million joules, and even at present prices, is still cheaper than a liter of milk.

So long as we continue to subsidize the use-cost...but alternatives are already cheaper, even so. I think going forward the argument for fossil fuels will be density and portability, not cost. Even right now, where there's some absolute necessity for high grade fossil fuel (think..jets) we pay a premium. Wurf.
